4AD Brake Light Switch
Hi Everyone .. I have searched this forum and cannot see any reference to the brake light switch ??? I have almost completed the wiring on the 1952 4AD Roadster I am restoring, and there are two wires that are obviously for the brake light switch??? but as I had very little original wiring left I do not have a switch or know what it looks like ,.. can anyone help with a photo of the switch with wiring attached and where it goes ... there is a small plate under the floor with two holes in it, does the brake light switch mount on that ??? ?? .. Regards Stephen from Down Under
Re: 4AD Brake Light Switch
Stephen,
The switch is Lucas # 31281, fits Sunbeam 90 and Alpine 1949-56, Morgan Plus Four 1949, Austin A-90 Atlantic 1949, Hillman Husky 1957. Here are a couple of pictures and it is attached at that bracket with a spring hooked to the brake pedal that pulls the plunger on the switch.

Re: 4AD Brake Light Switch
Hi Brg .. Thank you for the answer and the photos .. I have a spring hanging down off the brake system, and now I know what it's for,.. I also have some friends in the car Club that I am a member of, that have several Austin's and many, many spares, so I will see if they can supply me with one, if not with the part number I may be able to source one somewhere .. many thanks for your help, and have a Happy & Safe NEW YEAR .. Regards Stephen
Re: 4AD Brake Light Switch
Hi Stephen,
The correct Lucas brake light switch is available as a reproduction if you are not able to find an original in a decent condition.
You can get one from many companies selling vintage electrical parts for classic cars like Holden
http://www.holden.co.uk/displayproduct. ... Code=31281
or Paul Beck
