One year with my 4AD

Post by Motown Singer »

It's been 12 months since acquiring my 1953 4AD.

Some highlights:

1,400 + miles on my odometer
3 Quarts of Castrol 20/50
1 new battery ground strap
1 radiator flush & replentish
Lots of Hypoid from the rear axle, everywhere
1 broken throttle return spring, during the Woodward Dream Cruise

Having 6 Singers show up at Mad Dogs
Mine being the sole driven - not trailered

Anybody clock more miles in a Singer this year?

Probably didn't exceed 1400 this year. It's been a challenging year with an complete engine rebuild followed by a blown head gasket. However, I have logged 13,000 miles in the past 8 years since I restored my 4AD. Keep it on the road!

Hey Keith,

Well done, Sir!

The Senior made it debut at Mad Dogs and, yes, on a trailer. But, then, it hasn't been started in @7 years to my knowledge, so zero miles but a lot of smiles!

Hope you'll be at Mad Dogs 2011.

Hey Bill!

With that sweet-running 4AD ready to get out of it's winter hibernation, it's never too early to start planning!

Let's start a new threat in the events section.

Still snow on the ground here, but signs of spring abound!

I still have snow on the ground at my house, just large piles, no real snow on the ground except in the forest where the sun is not getting through. The Singer is parked in my neighbors garage across the street. I intend on starting it up and moving it back to my house this weekend. Hope it starts!
