Tools under the Bonnet

Post by Steve »

Does anyone have a list or possibly a picture of the tools that are under the bonnet of a 53 4AD?
Any other information like interchange from other models or manufacturers?

Thank you

there are some pictures on the gallery, not many and none are very clear.

I swear there was a drawing somewhere on the site but I can't find it now.

Hi Steve,
Here are two photos of my 52 4AD tools under the bonnet including the OEM clips that hold them to the deck. For some of the clips, I added spacers to lift the tools such that the tools wouldn't contact and damage the deck which they are mounted to. The pump is an OEM Singer original and I think I'm close with the other tools as well as proper positioning.
Hope this helps!
Fred

Hi,

There was an article about Singer tools that was published on ASCO magazine in 1989 available on the Singster website that is unfortunately no more available in the net. I copied the tools information to my hard disk some years back and made it now available on my web site. You can find it here http://www.guru-group.fi/~kabu/index.ph ... &Itemid=91

Sadly the pictures have very poor resolution but that was how they were when i copied them. I can try to enhance them later on.

I have also some detailed photos about the tools here http://www.guru-group.fi/~kabu/index.ph ... &Itemid=61

I believe the correct pump fora 4AD is of Apex brand, with a logo stamped on the pump side. The grease gun is by Tecalemit and the correct type has the bent metal handle (like on Fred's pictures). Similar grease gun has been used on multiple other British cars of the same era, however, many of them (like Jaguars) have different "mushroom head" type handle.

Best Regards,
Pekka
