wow, what a great looking car

Such a cool car and wonderful that he kept all the Singer parts - gauges, horn button, steering wheel, seats. Really the only thing he swapped was the body. The car actually did run, but was never entirely completed, much to the chagrin of his two daughters. I have no doubts that the current owner will complete it to a very high standard.

Good friend Geoff Hacker has started work on the molds for the Allied Swallow. This is perfect for anyone with a Singer chassis looking for a new body and was originally designed for just such a conversion (MG or Singer) back in the day. Certainly Geoff is in a position to offer some guidance as he owns one converted when the bodies were originally offered.

Any idea what the bodies will sell for? How do they attach it to the frame on a Singer 4AD? I have a restored 1953 Singer 4ADT chassis & drive train but stalled out about 6 years ago on the complete body rebuild that was going to require 100% wood replacement. I was saving that for a retirement project. I am about a year away from retirement and this might be a different direction to take it!

Mark! What an awesome idea! I was talking to Geoff last week and said the same thing.

What goes around comes around; there are probably quite a few barn find 4AD's with bodies missing, or beyond viable restoration, that would make donors for a project like this and the kind of thing that would have been done back in the day.

We covered Geoff's Allied Singer Swallow "Torquey" in NASOC NEWS a while back. A fascinating look back to the fifties when all this was new and cool.

Hope you can get a body for your 4AD chassis. Geoff is planning to produce the right sized version. Look forward to hearing how it works out.
