4AD engine stabilizer bracket

Post by GeneA »

Gene going wild with the digital camera!

Here's a photo of the engine stabilizer I made for the 4AD engine out of Volvo anti-sway bar links and bushings. The original stabilizer setup is useless. Hopefully this stronger setup will lead to prolonged front engine mount life.

4AD stabilizer

Mark:

Yes, I made a boomerang shaped piece of 1/8 sheet steel and picked up the 2 bolts on the starter as mounting points. I used a piece of tubing and welded nuts on each end to fit the Volvo 240 sway bar links. I did have to weld a bracket on the frame to pick up the other end of the link. It does make the engine quite vibration free.

Gene,

I suppose you could use a shock link, like the ones used on the rear shocks and the front suspension, in a similar mounting to achieve the same purpose. Just a thought....
