4AD Dual Oil Filter Decals

Post by Ken Hultgren »

I have a 1953 4AD roadster that I am trying to prune up to make presentable at Stowe next year.
Mine has dual pancake air filters. Anyone know the correct decal or tag put on top for servicing?
New decals available from someone?

I don't know what the decals are, but great to see that you plan to come to Stowe.

Hi,

I did some research on this subject while restoring my twin carburettor 4AD a few years back.

Here is a picture from an original twin carb brochure to the UK home market that shows labels on top of the air filters.

Similar AC "pancake" air filters were used also on some other british cars of the same era, for instance Jaguar XK120 & XK140, some MG and Triumph models, although they have different attachment ususlly to S.U. carburettors.

Here is a picture of my engine with the decals in place.

Here are a few links where you may find those decals:

Huge difference in pricing with international shipping. The third link is reasonable for USA.

Hi,

I just listed some potential places that (may) have this decal available, also some sites that are in the UK. You may find other, potentially better suppliers by looking other companies that supply parts to older British cars, especially Jaguar XK's.

As Mark said, the third link might be good as they seem to be a small company and could probably just put the decals on a letter and send by regular mail. I think I bought mine from the last link and they are a similar company in the UK and they just mailed me the decals to Finland.

Pekka

Hello Pekka

Thanks very much for your good help on my question. I really appreciate it.
Your engine compartment looks really great, crisp and clean.
I restored my 53 4AD circa 1980 and it was the first car I did.
Now that I am retired I want to bring it to a higher standard, I think like yours.
Thanks Again, Ken Hultgren
