Another Under The Hammer...

For now, I lumped all the pre-war cars together, I would LOVE for there to be enough demand to split it into groups (hint...hint, post here about your pre-war Singer)

Another Under The Hammer...

Well, it would appear Pre-War Singer prices are holding!

Latest to go under the hammer at Richard Edmond's Auctions March 26th event at Castle Combe was this very attractive 1936 Singer Le Mans Special Speed Model. Estimates were between 20,000.00 to 22,000.00 pounds sterling and it was knocked down at 20,000.00 - bang on the money. That's $32,234.17 USD, or $31,193.48 CAD.

Now, as NASOC's Pre-War Registar and a '36 LM SS owner myself, I admit to being partial to this model. It is the most developed form of the Le Mans series with underslung chassis, the better fore-aft steering system and bigger body tub. This car was a very nice example, but did require a number of unoriginal details to be corrected to make it first-rate. The chassis number was given as S388, but this should be 5388. Not that far off from mine!

Details of the car and auction can still be seen here:
