I couldn't resist this. A very rare car: this is only the second one known to exist according to the Singer Owners Club. John is going to deliver it to me within the next 10 days or so. Am I excited?- WOW yes indeed I am very excited....!!

great project, my favorite is always puzzles like this one, when some previous owner dismantled and now you puzzle out where it goes. Hint: the motor is up front

The pictures show ASCO's Light Six which has a different curved headlight bar to my straight one, and a picture pulled off the net which looks more similar. The original advert also shows a straight bar. John tells me he has lot of material on the car so I have many hours to look forward to reading it all through and deciding how to approach the project.

Amazing how 'American' the styling is on these...

interesting to see the ad for Cook & Palmer, who were one of the biggest Singer agents as I recall.

My 1933 Nine Sports came from the same dealership, delivered by a 'Mr Wilby' it appears in the ledgers. The first owner's neighbourhood has long since been re-developed and was perhaps bombed out during the war.

Love the cultural and historical perspective that goes along with the history of our cars!

John tells me he has the original buff log book as well as a contemporary sales brochure and other documents, so hopefully I can report on her history when I get these. She still has her original number plate (GN7370) which is marvellous and apparently everything is there including lights, instruments etc. although I'm not sure what is attached and what is loose. He will bring it up to Wisbech next week when we have a dry day so I'll post further information and pictures after arrival.

Arrived today. Lots to do but its better than it looks so I'm very happy. I think the only difficult woodwork is the piece that locks the roof to the top of the screen. This has rotted off so the whole body sways but the rest of the structure looks OK. Floors of course are missing. I'll empty her out tomorrow and try and do a complete survey and work plan.

Cleared her out today and have a far better idea of what needs doing. The chassis is very sound and panels are all good, as are the doors and door panels. Floors need replacing but that is very easy. Two major problems are: 1) The engine is seized. It is currently soaking in diesel so I'll give it another try on the handle tomorrow; 2) The 'beak' over the windscreen is rotten and has allowed the roof line to wander around. In addition there seems to be some sagging in the longitudinal wooden members that run the length of each side over the chassis. These two factors are resulting in very poor door gaps and large spaces above the doors on the passenger side.

Overall I'm pretty pleased - if I can get the engine moving I'll be especially happy.

you already have the engine in the front, so that is half the puzzle. Now to turn the engine over is easy, loosen the front and the rear motor mounts, get a long crowbar about 6ft. so you have leverage, on one side of the engine and flip it over, voila the engine is turned over. You are welcome for the help

That looks like such a cool project, I am jealous.

Rather than trying to turn the engine on the handle, put it in first gear and try rocking the car back and forth.

Looks good, you at least have templates for every piece of original timber (including the holes for the floor), doors, linnings etc. instruments etc are also there. Should be finished inside of 6 months???? Or is 6 years!
