It looks like a cover but on close examination it could be lighting, but it doesn't really matter as it is definitely a very early LM at the airport. As has been said before, how many more old photos are there, I have attached a photo of an Australian built version of a 33/34 LM 4 seater on a rolling chasis imported from the UK; I believe mine came from the same coachbulder. Also attached is an early Australian photo referred to as the Hamilton Car, no other details of ownership etc known.

Association of Singer Car Owners added to Facebook -"#ThrowbackThursday to this photo being taken in the Singer Factory of Light Cars being assembled. The photo was taken for the book "Where Cycles: Motor Cycles and Cars are made" a short book produced by Singer explaining how the vehicles were assembled inside their Coventry factory to the public both in Britain and abroad to help sell their cars. This is likely one of the first times these images are to be put online! So lookout for more in the coming weeks!

DarcyG, what a tremendous hoard you have!

Can't thank you enough for sharing them with us all.

Hope you have enough to save some for those long, cold nights next winter when these would offer such a boost to our enthusiasm (and encourage us toward the coming driving season...)

Very Best,

David

Let's #ThrowbackThursday again this week to the book "Where Cycle, Motor Cycles and Cars are made" with a look at the image of a "corner the heavy machinery department" - another fascinating insight to the working conditions (or at least those Singer wanted to show it it's customers) of the workers

OK, David,

Your collection of Singer-related autographs is absurd. Fabulous. Unlike anything I've ever seen. Did I mention fabulous?

How did you find these people? or even know they were alive?

I recognise quite a number of the signatures: Stanley Barnes, Rex King-Clark (both racing drivers), Service Manager Ernest Black, and Merlin Minshell (sp?). Can you help with identifying Vivienne Henwood (sp?), Harold Hastings, and the single name signer on the bottom left (Rives?) and their connection to the Singe world?

As always, you are raising the bar for those of us interested in Singer history. Thank you so much for that!

Very Best,

David

Harold Hastings was an Autocar journalist - he may have been their Midlands Editor,I'm not sure; 'Rivers' is A F Rivers-Fletcher (1912-1999), racing driver, journalist and historian.

Vivienne Henwood was the daughter of Charles Henwood, Singers' distributor in Swansea. He purchased no48, and two other team cars that lay undisturbed until the early 1970s.

Ebay, a good 15 years ago, I still owned the 4AD and did not own a pre-war Singer when I got that.

Just curious, was the stock stamped "DERELICT" before, or after, you bought it? :P
