Singer pictures from personal archives

For now, I lumped all the pre-war cars together, I would LOVE for there to be enough demand to split it into groups (hint...hint, post here about your pre-war Singer)

I thought I would start a new thread and kick it off with a few images from some original negatives that I own.

As it's Friday, here's a very special one for you all to pour over at the weekend. Can you spot the other Singer entries in the background and Leo Shorter, the designer of the 9 engine? Apologies for the inclusion of a rights reserved claim but I need to control its distribution and use unfortunately as it has never been published to my knowledge. Have a good weekend!

Fantastic shot David. It's photos like this that got me hooked on pre war Singers. Thanks for sharing.

Yes. I had seen that on #48 before. I assume it was easier to see at speed.

David,

These are simply Brilliant!

Thank you so much for posting them. These photographs feel like a private window upon the intimate world of period racing.

Very Best,

David

Seen at Schipol airport, dated 1929, in an historical series of the airport, near gate D26, departures. But to my mind this is definitely a 1933/34 Singer 4 seater LM. Thoughts? Sorry about the detail but this the best possible from the wall size photo. Maybe someone in Holland with contacts at the airport could find the original, alas we were on our way out.

Earliest it would be is Oct '32. Can't tell from the photo, but it looks like it has a spare tire cover.

From the duck tail back, the aluminium panels of front of rear guard and the early front guards, it is definitely a Singer and I would say your guess is spot on

DarcyG,

What a great find --at the airport, no less!

This is a beautiful car. Were hard covers for the spare a commonplace?

This is a neat thread.
