1936 Singer Commercial van

For now, I lumped all the pre-war cars together, I would LOVE for there to be enough demand to split it into groups (hint...hint, post here about your pre-war Singer)

1936 Singer Commercial van

Post by Peter McKercher »

Here's a little beauty I have been trying to locate for about ten years. It came to my attention when a fellow in the Toronto area called and told me he was trying to purchase it and convert it to a dragster. Due to title issues, the fellow decide against it but wouldn't reveal its location. It has now resurfaced and is in the hands of a fellow who wants to restore it.

The van was in regular use up until 1966, when it was placed in storage. It appears to be quite complete and a wonderful candidate for a restoration. These things are about as rare as any Singer you will find, with only about ten surviving around the world, each of them quite different. Only a couple are on the road.

That is really gorgeous Peter. I would be inclined to restore the mechanicals and the interior but leave the paintwork alone. If it needs a good home you could always suggest to the new owner that he treats it to a container trip to Wisbech. :D

there was something similar in N. Cal. a few years ago, or am I confused and it was a Coupe ?

Sorry you didn't get this van Peter, but also happy it didn't get sold to first guy who wanted to hot rod it.
