Hello

For now, I lumped all the pre-war cars together, I would LOVE for there to be enough demand to split it into groups (hint...hint, post here about your pre-war Singer)

I hope you aren't still snowed in Phillip! :D I am still priming and rubbing down; I'm sure I will get a decent finish in the end! Tomorrow I will spray the last coat of grey filler primer before switching to coats of black primer for the final rub down as that will reveal the last blemishes. Next weekend with any luck I'll put some colour on her!

Sprayed on the black undercoat as planned between gardening jobs. The next stage, which may be rather depressing, is to rub it back to the pale undercoat leaving the black in all the blemishes.....

Hey Colin,

Looking great and nice to see some paint going on.

Actually did some wok on my '34 sports. Got the petrol tank out only to have one strap stud break off, even after much soaking with Releasall. Looks like nuts with the wrong thread had been forced on. Examination and scraping of paint on the tank revealed a lacy texture to the steel! Might need your mate with the stainless steel skills! lol!
Mind you, the car has been off the road for over 50 years, so I shouldn'r complain!

Have you posted any pictures of the Sports Phillip? I'd love to see some.

I'm a bit spoiled for stainless fabricators as, in addition to Dick, my neighbour services can-handling equipment and is very skilled in stainless fabrication. There is also a really good man in Peterborough who made the tank for my Series One Land Rover. Unfortunately we are all in the UK. :( You can get liquid liners for petrol tanks which create a long term solution although I have not tried them.

The colour on Bea is still undercoat but I'll get a couple more on before the top coat, which is going to be a deep ruby red.

Got some top coat on which turned out to be pearl finish. Not what I intended but easy to spray over. The colour looks rather bronzed in the pictures but its more red in real life and despite the finish I think the colour is right.

William and his wife Annette came to visit today. Nice to meet them and hopefully nice for him to see the progress on his baby who lived in a shed on his farm for so long. I think he was happy with my progress. Here he is with Annette and Little Bea and one with me (I was uncharacteristically clean having just got in from work!).

Sprayed the final colour on this morning. Its more pillar box than ruby but I like it. I tempted some friends round with strong drink and we have reunited Bea's body with the chassis. I have also demolished my multi-story contraption and I suddenly have more room in the garage (which is looking rather pink!). I have to paint the interior woodwork black and cover some overspray but this feels like real progress.

Day off today so I fitted the doors, fuel tank, dash and instruments. Only the oil pressure gauge is wired up but I enjoy the sense of progress!

Got the front seats from Brockwells in King's Lynn this morning. They have done a great job. Linda chose the colour and made a good choice in my opinion. Door cards will be in the same tone with a dark brown carpet.

Final bodywork challenge is the bonnet. Pictures show badly pitted steel on arrival but lots of filler primer and rubbing down later I put a couple of top coats on. Its a new tin so the colour match is not perfect but I have saved half a tin of the other red for the final three coats. There are a couple of bolts through the bonnet hinge that I suspect are not original but I have left them in place as they are part of her history.

If anyone is out there looking I would be very glad of some pictures of how the bonnet attaches to the bulkhead plus ideas about the size and shape of the rubber strip that I think seats the bonnet on the bulkhead.

Foul weather and not much chance of spraying for the past two weekends. I'm doing the wiring in the workshop but I mounted the hood just to get an idea of what she will look like. The grill surround is there but my mate Dick has subsequently taken it away for some TLC before I fill it and spray it with chrome paint. He has also completed the running boards although I haven't seen them yet. We are going ('Er Indoors is taking me) to Sidmouth Folk Festival next week so I'll be short of time on Little Bea for a couple more weekends

I've started to fit the body out:

Wiring generally in place though not yet connected to starter and battery. Dynamo connections a bit of a mystery but hopefully I have got it right.

Can anyone tell me what return spring arrangement for the accelerator you need for a 1929 Junior?
