Hello

For now, I lumped all the pre-war cars together, I would LOVE for there to be enough demand to split it into groups (hint...hint, post here about your pre-war Singer)

Thanks Roly - it gives me the impetus to get rubbing down so I can show some progress for the next edition!

Still not much going on with Spring just round the corner! I have however had good news from Contour Autocraft who have finished the general shape of the new radiator surround and will just need to swage the edge and put the Singer logo on. I have no idea how much it will cost! It is being made in brass so will be very easy to nickel plate.

I have also had the engine running well for reasonably extended periods and she sounds very nice. As soon as I get some time on a nice day I'll fire up the compressor and get some top coat on the front mudguards.

Weather pretty decent in the Fens today so I fired up the compressor today and put some top coat on the front mudguards. I can't post a picture as the web tells me they are all too big despite being below the required maximum size.

It seems only very small pictures are allowed.

Thanks Mike - hopefully I will have more pictures to post over the next few months. I had a piece of luck on eBay with a 1928 magazine - it was the motor show edition which featured the 1929 Singer range. I didn't think it would be more than a prop to leave on the seat at shows but it turned out to be far more interesting.

Colin,

Any chance of a scan of the 1939 Senior range from your mag? I have a Senior Coachbuilt Salonn.

Sorry Phillip but it only covers the junior models. It must have been their marketing thrust of the moment. I will keep an eye out on eBay. You quote 1939 but I presume you mean 1929 in line with your impressive collection noted in your signoff?

Hey Colin,

Yeah! it was a typo...apologies. The Senior is a 1929 model but registered in very late 1928 to a Doctor in Brighton. Sold via Vine & Lee. The plate is still on the dash. I becoming more and more drawn to these earlier cars. The Senior is built like a bus!

I realise my sills are too far gone to be repaired. It looks like a fairly simple piece of bodywork so I have asked my mate Dick who made my fuel tank if he can help. As a bit of fun I drove her today - just few yards, with a piece of bamboo for a throttle and a tool box as a seat. I was astonished to get serious wheelspin but she weighs nothing and has 8 horses pulling her along so perhaps I shouldn't be surprised!

I have stripped the loom from the bulkhead and removed the pedal pivot bar ready to start repainting the wood. I found the vehicle number on the Singer plate which I had missed so far. That was nice.

As before I can't upload pictures I'm afraid no matter how small I make them.

I dont want to get this thread off your subject, is that the biggest you can upload ? I see your images are 600 pixels wide and 100kb in size, the limit is 1920x1200 and 10MB size, the display image in the post is 800x600 to keep the forum formatting looking ok and then a user clicks on the image to get the full size. I know we are hitting a 4MB limit on upload file size at the host right now, I have asked they increase it but we are HUGE ways from even 4MB. I don't know when they will increase it, they are pretty good in tech support but slow to make changes. But 100kb size is tiny from a 4MB limit. To keep your posts from getting distracted, it might be best to work in Private Messages until this gets resolved, your choice, I just don't want to hinder your posting.

dont burn all the rubber in the gravel, you have to leave some rubber on the tires for the road.
