Singer pictures from personal archives

For now, I lumped all the pre-war cars together, I would LOVE for there to be enough demand to split it into groups (hint...hint, post here about your pre-war Singer)

Hi David,

Absolutely brilliant and very nice photos. Looks as though you've had the kind of summer we've had over here.

Is this a car with history, one that's been recently restored, or a new (re)creation of a once long ago race car? I love the look, scale and name.

How did it sound?

And how did it go?

Thanks so much for posting.

Very Best,

David

Quite a well known car David. See https://www.brooklandsmuseum.com/explor ... ger-bantam Interestingly, my '34 Nine Sports was sold through his dealership when new.

Hi
The Bantam looks good sounds great and goes very well' I wasn't able to see the timed climbs and on the Saturday morning when I was there the track was damp as you can see. The car has been around since late pre or just post - war days and was well known in its day but hasn't been seen for a while.

At 104mph, knees bent, steering wheel under your ribs, your body more out of the car than in plus “sports” suspension, it would have be a ride to remember.

I came across this when I was looking through my 1974 volume of 'Old Motor' magazine. Does anyone know it? Sorry about the quality of print but newsletters were printed on news print quality paper and have discoloured in places!
kind regards

On the SOC Facebook page:

Lovely photo of a Singer van and an Armstrong Siddeley tow truck in Bristol but the Singer has a Coventry registration.

Slightly expensive?

Just to 'out' the Getty for their hubris, the reproduction prints they have on offer carry a tariff of $450 (£354)! This is out and out usury.

By contrast, the Library of Congress has original negatives from which very high quality prints used to be available for $15 apiece, or 1/30th the price.

Bill, you have ascended to your black belt in understatement....
