Re: Side mirrors
Thanks for the pictures, now I know exactly what to look for! :P Might you have a photo of the fitting that fits onto the windscreen frame? This may be a part that I have to make unless someone out there might have a spare! Which brings up another question: Did the 4AD come with one on each side, or...

Re: Side mirrors
Good Day All, While doing research of this subject, I saw this post from way back and was wondering if anyone can shed some light on the proper side view mirror configuration for my 1952 4AD. I see photos of wing mounted mirrors, and I see windscreen mounted mirrors like the pics above. Which is cor...

Re: 4AD Seat Mount Rails
After realizing that the seats in my roadster are not OEM Singer, I paid a visit to my friend Paul Barber in Cedartown GA. I pieced together what I thought were for my 1952 4AD, but after getting them home and taking a close look, even these seat backs and bases were for an earlier Singer. I was not...

Re: 4AD Seat Mount Rails
Thanks Mike! After diligent searching, I think these may be from alate 50's or early 60's Austin Healey Bugeye Srite or similar. At least I now know that these seats were never offered from the Singer factory! Looks like a trip to see Paul Barber is in order! Oh well :? Again, thanks for all the hel...

Re: 4AD Seat Mount Rails
Ok, so the more I research seats and photos, I now realize that my front seats are different than the pictures I'm seeing of other 4AD cars. Can anyone tell me if these are Singer seats, or are these borrowed from something else! The photos below show a removable seat cushion bottom (undersid...

Re: 4AD Seat Mount Rails
Thanks Pekka, this is all valuable information that will help significantly, the photos are a huge help also! Now to find a suitable substitute, unless someone has a set of OEM rails that they would like to part with! I need them for both seats.
Thanks again for all the help! Fred

Re: 4AD Seat Mount Rails
Thanks for the photo Pekka, this is definitely not what I have. Maybe I should stay with the MG type rails and simply find another for the passenger side? There must have been a clearance problem since there were 1/2” wood strips under the rails to get them up off the floor. Anybody know of a good s...

4AD Seat Mount Rails
I’m now at the point of mounting the seats in my 4AD project, and discovered that the seat tracks (rails) are not the original, they seem to be MG TD or similar. The driver’s seat was adjustable; while the passenger seat was hard mounted using four brackets on each corner and is non-adjustable. I’m ...

Re: Wiper Motor Wiring and Shift Knob
Thanks D'Arcy, this helps a bunch! You're right on the shift knob, the drawings seem to show a black "tractor like" shift knob. That may have been the first upgrade many made back in the day, replacing it with a nice wooden knob.
Thanks for the help!

Wiper Motor Wiring and Shift Knob
Hello all, As I enter the final stages of the restoration of my 52 4AD, one detail that was completely missing from my car was the wiring to the wiper motor. What does this wire look like? Is it two wires, or one wire with the ground running through the windshield frame. Also, what do the wire clips...

Re: 4AD wiring harness
Has anyone out there tried the blinking/flashing LED trafficator bulbs? They are available in 6 and 12 volt options. They are shown on a VW here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hX1qeG2nyUQ and buy them here: http://www.vintagewarehouse.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=733 I assume they will w...

Re: 4AD wiring harness
The 1952 4AD that I’m in the process of restoring has trafficators, and I’m actually in the process of installing the new wiring harness and working through the electrical system. The problem is that the trafficators being an option, are not part of the basic wiring harness, and are not shown on the...

1952 Singer 4AD Restoration
Hello all, After four plus years of you all sharing your knowledge to help me in this project, I thought it was time to give you a glimpse of what's happening on this end. The car is far from finished, but I can finally see light at the end of the tunnel! I've started to build a web site to simply s...
