According to the DVLA website the car has not been taxed since 1994, so it may not be just the engine that's seized!

I don't have intimate knowledge of Singer's methods, but logically I would suggest Option B is the the best solution: this is the only one that doesn't allow water to be driven into the joint and into the cockpit. The Talbot is a 1933 105 model (3-litre, 6-cylinder) with Vanden Plas bodywork; thought to be one of nine cars fitted with this style of bodywork, three survivors.

I don't know the particular tap you have, but these Viton O-rings work well on the Austin Seven tap - may be worth investigating:

That looks spot on. From memory I think the panel on my Star had one (maybe two) 1" holes drilled to act as finger holes for ease of lifting.
