Re: Le Mans recreation
There are far less expensive races but the big one is Monterey/Laguna Seca and it runs the same weekend as Pebble Beach Concours so it gets all the big dollar cars and hotels are booked months in advance. Sonoma in wine country of California is reasonable as is Buttonwillow both of them have more pr...

Re: Le Mans recreation
Well the Singer was not at Laguna Seca Pre-historics this past weekend, he is registered for the Historics this coming weekend but was a no show for the pre-weekend. For reference, the pre-weekend is where you get track time to practice and fine tune the car but also where you get your grid position...

Re: Le Mans recreation
There is a 33 Singer that competes at Laguna Seca Historics every year. I will be there tomorrow and see if he is here this year

Re: Connecting Rod for 1951 4AD Roadster
I was hoping by now you had found something by now. I am going on vacation and when I get back next week, i will see what I can do. I have a few motors that still have their crankshafts in them, so they still have their pistons and rods BUT the pistons are long seized up in the blocks which means no...

Re: The Restoration of AYW709
Thank you Peter for the clear pictures. Unfortunately, in order to get a nice gap, I will have to move the rear of the wing to near the middle of the front cowl panel instead of at the seam or slightly behind like yours is and if i do that, the front of the wing is in front of the dumbirons so obvio...

Re: The Restoration of AYW709
ok, thousand picture post, nasty rant and not sure what else but here goes. NOTHING FITS !!! For the new people, my car had no fenders/wings when I purchased it so these are Hardwick steel wing replicas. How were the 1934 wings fitted and attached to the car ? specifically 34 without running boards....

Re: Le Mans recreation
The UK clubs will have the information based on the chassis number, they can get you how it left the factory.
This page will show you where to get the serial numbers to give them.

Re: The Restoration of AYW709
progress and no progress. So I fitted the front valence where I think it should be based on pictures, fitted the wings to fit, then I put the hood/bonnet on...OOPS, no fit. Major interference with the wings and nothing was close, duh, I should know better. So I moved the wings forward about 3" ...

Re: The Restoration of AYW709
I think I understand...pics always help. I am very surprised that a suspension bolt would do double duty, it would seem that if the wing nut got stuck/rusty/damaged that it could turn the bolt and help it come loose. But ok, I will find some longer bolts and turn them down, I don't see them in Hardw...

Re: The Restoration of AYW709
Great, now I have to find that step Bolt and wing nut. I’ve seen it on several cars, but seen more cars without it then with it, so I was not worried. I like those little tangs to keep the valence down. I probably will weld some up. Todays task is move the valence further back which means cutting on...

Re: The Restoration of AYW709
Thank You Colin , you said something that made sense to me and I feel stupid for having been trying to make this work the wrong way, you said I needed to work the front valence first and that lit up like a light bulb. I started cutting the valence so it would fit with the radiator shell, it was too...

Re: The Restoration of AYW709
So trying to fit the front wing. I am happy with the fit so far but still working on it. Does the front wing end at the front spring hanger or in front of it ? And my front valence seems to hang out a mile in front of the chassis. So do I cut the front valence to force it further back or move the fr...

Re: New Project
awesome, now its a race to see who finishes their car first. Son-in-law's Mini had several setbacks but it's painted now and running quite well, so some assembly and it might even be out this weekend, but next week for sure. It took a lot longer, he lost his job and had no money to throw at the car ...

Re: New Project
my 4AD was done in stainless steel channel, it was 40 years ago but I found a channel that was a near perfect match and once on the car no one could tell the difference. If it was made then, chances are it is still made. Brass is easier to work with but (check on this as I am not sure) I think you h...
