Re: G'day from Western Australia

No worries...I'll keep them on standby for you. I had a similar problem with my LM front axle. It had been ruined by fitting some random type of kingpins that certainly weren't Singer. We sleeved the axle eyes and reamed them to take the original Singer bushes and pins. Might be worth a look...hopef...

Re: G'day from Western Australia

Actually found a photo of them!

They are Dufor, which I believe is an Australian brand. Looks like they are missing a locking pin, but otherwise NOS.

Re: G'day from Western Australia

I believe I have a new set of kingpins and bushes in stock for a Bantam, if required.

I'm away on vacation at the moment and picking up my Singer engine on the way back, but I will check when I get back...

Re: BRITISH INVASION 2021: 30TH ANNIVERSARY - 20 YEARS WITH SINGER

News has broken that the US border will continue to remain closed through September: https://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/u-s-extending-travel-restrictions-at-border-with-canada-for-another-30-days-1.5554684 Sadly this means the Canadian contingent will not be able to attend the Invasion, but we hope our...

Judging from the castings and design I'm going to guess @1936

Re: Super 10 or 12 ?

Looks prer-war for sure and maybe not either a Super Ten or Super Twelve. I thought those had pressed steel wheels. Brakes and shocks look early Lockheed and Luvax respectively. Maybe a Singer Eleven?

Re: New (Soon to be) Gazelle Owner

Hi Tori,

Welcome to the world of Singers and congratulations on your purchase.

The man you need to speak to is Jan Eyerman, the Gazelle Registrar for NASOC. He knows everything about these cars.

I've sent you his contact details by private message...

Hope that helps!

Cheers,
Phillip

Re: original trunk lid

The design of the center wooden section of the trunk lid is made to accept the top of the spare wheel when the trunk id closed. There is an oval hole in the inner trunk lid plywood panel. This panel is cover in black leatherette (vinyl) The top trunk lid is correct, but is missing the metal folding ...

Early caps were soldered on. Later caps, commencing sometime perhaps in mid - to - late 1935 are screwed on.

Re: Direction Indicator Mystery on Roadsters

Just to clarify the fitment of trafficators to Singer Roadsters, the A and 4A came standard with them fitted from the factory. The control was part of the steering center and horn button. This unit was used on many other British cars like the Ford A93A Prefect and a variation was used on Austin Heal...

Trying to find the other data...I know I have it!

Re: G'day from Western Australia

Hi Thierry, Here's a basic primer on the 972cc engine... As you know since you have the engine apart, the main bearings and the rod bearing are white metal castings (we call babbit bearings) and a regrind of any of the crank journals will require re-metaling the bearings. The mains need to be line-b...

Re: Links for rear shock absorber 52 4AD

I repaired my rear tranny mounts on my 4ADT and took some photos of the process. I will try and dig them out. I recall someone once saying that there was a Jaguar model that used the same part. The bonded-in nut is not the best design, especially where there is a lot of oil leaking around the area! ...

Re: G'day from Western Australia

Yes! This is another place they crack. Usually from over-tightening the head studs and/or head nuts. I have a Speed block that needs the same. Cold metalock stitching is the standard practice on these blocks and heads, but, as has been mentioned perhaps there are new techniques like laser welding th...

Re: G'day from Western Australia

WOW! Bingo!
Speed head and speed crank.
Block has cracked in the usual place between the casting plug holes but otherwise...fingers crossed that it is all salvagable!
