Re: Help identifying coupe

Well, Colin, For once I'm not writing to congratulate you on yet another impressive task done . Is that getting tedious yet? I did, however, finally come to my senses and notice the address for you on your postings. I spent a fair bit of time visiting my father, while he was still alive (d. 1991) an...

Re: SOLID COPPER GASKET SETS...

HI Phillip, Ahhh, Thank You for having those made! Put me down for three sets, please. As post expenses are fast becoming preposterous, I shall pay and await an opportunity for us to be in the same place at the same time. What other little bits and bobs do you have hiding in your cabinet, Dr Caligar...

Re: New Project

Hello Colin, What a tremendous amount of progress you've made --on several fronts! You are quite amazing, at least at making me honest: each time I look away, even for a moment, I fall desperately behind, just in keeping up with your progress! let alone getting anything done. Your comments about the...

Re: Help identifying coupe

HI Colin, Thanks for the broadcast timeline, and congratulations again, first of course for completing the wonderful car and also for helping the Singer marque to receive more [ and most deserved ] attention on air. WIll the broadcast be streamed so others, from the infidel, out-lying lands, can vie...

Hi David,

What is a 'skirting board' if you don't mind?

Thanks in advance and

Happy New Year,

David

Re: Help identifying coupe

Hi Colin, The period literature, particularly from Singer, is both engaging and very interesting indeed; I agree. Thanks for posting the pieces you put up on this thread. They're great. A couple of years ago, I spent a small fortune on a portfolio of prints that illustrate each car in the 1936 Singe...

Re: Help identifying coupe

Hi Colin, Lovely comparative photos, and most instructive: I Love the chrome blaze at the rear of the waistline on your car: quintessentially Art Deco. Thank you for posting the two, as it's useful, I believe, for those who can't see either car --or any of the rare closed light coupes and sedans. ( ...

Re: Another Motoring Season Winding Down...

Oh, this IS a merry prospect!

What a delight, David, to think you've found a fulcrum to bring your Special back on the road, even if it's shifting sand...

Hope every bit of it goes smoothly.

Please keep us posted.

Kindest Regards,

David

Re: New Project

Hi Colin, Such a delight to be catching up with your progress. [ immense: it's almost incomprehensible that you've done five months of work in the three hours I've been reading... Oh. ] I've jumped ahead from page 26 to ask, before I forget, about the thoughts you have about the material used as a s...

Re: Help identifying coupe

Hi Colin, First, thank you for your kind words for Nancy and me. We've both been ill a bit: she more than I, and she's a good bit better, back at working on her stroke recovery ( the stroke was four years ago, but she's back in PT for the first time in a long while: I'm grateful ). I'm still trying ...

Re: Help identifying coupe

Do today's presently available motor oils in the UK l still contain ZDDP, or a similar zinc additive? Or does one have to seek out a specific motor oil as we must in the States when breaking in a new engine or changing cams?

Just curious...

Re: Help identifying coupe

Well, Colin, either you've made a lot of progress on this lovely project or I've been away for a bit. Why not both? SO happy to see things moving apace. Early on in this thread you wrote, "The papers with the car also include the Singer Owner from 1972 with an article on the Nine Coupes and a c...

Re: Help identifying coupe

Hello Colin, Well, I've been quiet long enough. It's time to tell you what a bodge you're making of all this --by making the rest of us look bad Again! Brilliant that you found this lovely car which looks wonderful already on the cosmetic plane. Your seeing to the mechanics is the best of both world...

Re: AVM 894

Hi Peter, I think you know how much I enjoy period photos whenever they surface. Was the original photo colorized or did you add that touch? If so, was the intention to highlight the 'subject car'? Is that thought to be Reggie Tongue in the cap, wearing such a winning smile? Thanks for posting this ...
