Re: 4AD Engine Parts

Hi, Australian Company JP Pistons seems to be fabricating pistons for a wide range of vintage and classic cars, including the 1500cc Singer engine on our 4AD's. They have also pistons for earlier Singer models. Their website is http://www.jp.com.au/JPPistons.html and the 4AD piston part number is JP...

Re: Red and Chrome Singer Badge

Hi Fred, Yes, I have heard about Bill as well, hope all goes well. Hopefully you will get a reproduction barge from ASCO. Good to hear that you have found my start/choke cables good and suitable. Currently I do not have assembled cables ready but can produce another batch in the future if there is d...

Re: Red and Chrome Singer Badge

Hi Fred, I bought a reproduction badge a few years back from UK where the Association of Singer Car Owners (ASCO) have those available. The badge is still listed on their webpage for Roadster spares http://www.asco.org.uk/page187.html but those parts are available only to ASCO members. Attached is a...

Re: Running board rubber ends

Hi, I had the same problem with these running board rubber ends. I actually got some of these parts from the UK but they were badly re-chromed and bumpy originals. I then decided to fabricate a new set myself and used stainless steel as I have used on some other brightwork parts I have fabricated my...

Re: Postwar singer barnfind

Hi, The cars from this barnfind were auctioned in Paris 6 February 2015. The 1954 Singer Roadster ended up at 10,728 Euros (~USD 12,200) which seems pretty high considering the condition of the car. On the other hand the car seems untampered and original although very rusty and also the wooden frame...

Re: Singer 4 AD Front Wheel Brake Adjusters

Hi Louis, I did not have any problems with my brake adjusters so did not have to made anything else to them as just good cleaning. As Stephen says, it is likely that the problem is just that the teeth are so work out that they do not hold the cam in the set position. one possible solution is filing ...

Re: Cowl area wood joinery

Hi Brook,

I do still have a few Singer manufacturer plates available. I also have Start and Choke knobs but no fully assembled cables at the moment. I can acquire necessary parts and assemble cables but it will take a while.

I will figure out the costs and send you an email.

Pekka

Re: GearBox bell housing leaking oil

Hi Stephen, I also suspect that the oil might still be coning from the engine via the crankshaft rear end. As Mark said, there is only a reverse thread labyrinth seal there, as is common to most (british) cars of this era, and that construction is qiute prone to some leak. One fact that can increase...

Re: Cowl area wood joinery

Hi Brook,

I got the windshield bottom rubber from Bill Haverly in the UK. Bill is the Singer Roadster spares specialist for ASCO (Association of Singer Car Owners). You should be able to contact him via the following page:

Re: 4AD Sliding Window Handles

Hi Stephen, Here is one handle for 1/4" thick glass with similar attachment than the original singer handle. http://tinyurl.com/pphbp7c The good thing is that it is for marine use and made from stainless steel. That means that you can even cut and grind the shape if needed and then polish it an...

Re: 4AD Sliding Window Handles

Hi Stephen, Are you planning to use plastic that is the same thickness as the glasses? There is no latch on the side glass, just a handle that is press fit to the front edge of the moving front glass. The felt channel privides sufficient friction to keep the glass in position where it is left. The o...

Re: Bracket attached to windscreen, 4AD

I wondered the same bracket and figured out also that may serve as a limiting the wiper travel. Another purpose might be that when the hood is up it keeps the hood fabric away from the wiper center axle.

Re: Steering Wheel Removal - 4A

Hi, If the bakelite is not badly broken, you can repair it with gluing the broken parts together with epoxy glue, sanding the excess glue from the seam and then painting the part(s) with bakelite color paint (spray). If there are some broken bits missing, you can fill the gaps with for instance with...
