Re: New Project
Colin, we both must have been crazy, the 34LM I purchased really should have been scrapped, but I wanted one so badly that I got it. The wood was rotten and a large amount of it was missing due to rot, the motor was frozen solid and had a large plate bolted to the side where the first crankshaft had...

Re: Singers on Video: Hudson and Merrickville Car Shows...
Yes, there are videos, the links are above in the first post. Regarding your engine question, there is really no major weakpoint in the 4AD motor, its a strong motor. The weakness in the drivetrain is the rear axle, but the twin carb rear is stronger than the single carb rear axle. Vaughn did a LOT ...

Re: The Restoration of AYW709
So 3 days before Xmas we had rain in So. Calif. and it was a LOT of rain. So 4” of water in my garage and everything on the floor flooded :( I have had the heater on since then, hot enough to be uncomfortable in the shop but drying out nicely IMG_6375.jpeg IMG_6374.jpeg Don’t worry Santa got the gra...

As far as I know, yes all the parts will fit. I am not aware of different head parts for the single vs. twin.

Re: Head for 51 1500cc 4AD
Yes, that does look like the real deal. Time for a history lesson. In mid/late 1955 Singer changed the head design and this is one of those heads. It will fit your car and all 4AD's. Notice the 3 intake holes though, that is because the head can be used as a Twin-carb OR a Single carb. There is a st...

Re: Head for 51 1500cc 4AD
The only "good" head I have is a twin-carb which i am keeping for a project. I do have several single-carb heads but they are rust buckets from being outside, you are welcome to one if you want it, they "should" clean up, no idea if they are cracked or good, so its your gamble. U...

Re: 9 LM inner door hardware
Machining mostly done for the prototype. I decided to put a bushing in the plate instead of a washer (original may have been a bushing or washer can’t tell from the pictures). And i soldered it in because while it was a slight press fit i was worried it might rotate someday. Back half of the shaft i...

Re: 9 LM inner door hardware
It looks as if you have a decent workshop Mike so that helps! Back when my daughter was in high school and college and dating she used to tell her boyfriends, never ask if my father has a tool, just ask where it is. That is about right !!! So far, nothing done that could not be done with a file and...

Re: 9 LM inner door hardware
Hard part done ! Both square ends are made. Still have to drill and tap the end but that is later on the lathe. The square part is 0.325 although in the pictures earlier in this thread the square part is measured as 0.344. I am guessing that is the difference between original and the SOC’s reproduct...
