Re: 9 LM inner door hardware
Machining mostly done for the prototype. I decided to put a bushing in the plate instead of a washer (original may have been a bushing or washer can’t tell from the pictures). And i soldered it in because while it was a slight press fit i was worried it might rotate someday. Back half of the shaft i...

Re: 9 LM inner door hardware
It looks as if you have a decent workshop Mike so that helps! Back when my daughter was in high school and college and dating she used to tell her boyfriends, never ask if my father has a tool, just ask where it is. That is about right !!! So far, nothing done that could not be done with a file and...

Re: 9 LM inner door hardware
Hard part done ! Both square ends are made. Still have to drill and tap the end but that is later on the lathe. The square part is 0.325 although in the pictures earlier in this thread the square part is measured as 0.344. I am guessing that is the difference between original and the SOC’s reproduct...

Re: 9 LM inner door hardware
Step 1 IMG_6198.jpeg And the square hole in the second handle is NOT square so it does not fit. IMG_6199.jpeg Guess I will have to hand fit everything by hand I have set up the mill to make an oversized square since both handles from the UK club are not the same size. Hand filing to last fit. I don’...

Re: Where to get parts
oil seals for front and rear axles For the front oil seal, I just went to a bearing shop (king bearing) and they measured it up and got them for me, pretty standard size. The rear seals are not standard, you will have to machine a "insert" to press into the housing to allow you to use a s...

Re: 9 LM inner door hardware
ok, back on this for now, going to get this finished as I feel I am working on too many parts, lets get one finished. Going to make the shaft that goes through the plate this weekend, it appears to be brass in the pictures above. Is it really brass ? I would think that is too soft and would wear out...

Re: The Restoration of AYW709
Back on the car...Sorry had a bit of bad health and not been in the mood for over a month. Back on my feet and looking at the front wing fit and also talked with a guy that has a 35 LM with same motor swap, he did not use the UK suggested clutch linkage which looks messy but stayed with Spridget hyd...

Re: last car I promise...Mini
So just to close this thread...Mini is GONE. Son-in-law took it home about a month ago and this time it seems to be sticking around his place, its been gone before but now all the little bugs have been worked out. We did go back to the 1275 A-Series took out the Yamaha R1 motor which was just too mu...

Re: The Restoration of AYW709
here is a interesting tidbit as to why my bonnet/hood won't fit :) when I sand down the ugly blue paint on the main body tub, I get Black paint before the aluminum. Which I was once told was the color of the car when it left the factory. When I sand the blue paint on the hood, I get Green, a pretty ...

Re: Connecting Rod for 1951 4AD Roadster
I thought 121 was part 45 on Plate 2 but obviously I am wrong, let me poke around my junk pile. part 56 on plate 2 connects to that wonderful little oil line that likes to rub against the timing chain and get holes rubbed into it, part 42 is where it connects to. Simple oil line, although what confu...
