Re: Hello
Started to put the engine back together today. I find that the radiator will not fully bolt home as the lower outlet fouls the steering box. I have it supported on two wooden blocks at present but I would be glad of info from others - is this the correct radiator I wonder? I am also getting a lot of...
Re: Hello
Hello Stephen - I think the shocks were original as my Junior is a 1929 model the same as Phillip's Senior. The fixings are quite basic. You'll get the idea from the attached pictures. If you need more info please just ask. The 3rd picture shows the lower fixing attached to the spring U bolts but wi...
Re: Hello
Black high temperature gloss on the block. Masking is the biggest issue if you don't strip it all down but I think this will be OK. It needs 2 coats with 24 hours between so I'll do the second coat after work tomorrow (day off today). Later correction - re-coating is after 30 minutes and 24 hours to...
Re: Hello
Thanks Mike - yes I think black is the right colour to use. I'll order some high temperature paint today.
Re: Hello
In a mad rush to get stuff done before returning to work I stripped the engine today and loosely fitted the rocker cover and manifold to keep visitors out. My next decision is the colour for the block - the red was applied by the previous owner and is not authentic, there is a green tinge which may ...
Re: Hello
I forgot to add that William, who owned Little Bea for many years before selling her to me, found the original supplier's plate in his bureau. It will eventually be reunited with her. I love the phone number - those were the days!

Re: Hello
Took the various bits off the engine today so I can paint the block. Gave the manifold several coats of high temperature paint and it is in the oven at 160 degrees C to cure as I speak. Also gave the rocker cover some paint and pressure washed the engine and chassis to get rid of grime. (I used a le...

Advice on UK firms for seat restoration.
I've posted this separately from my restoration thread to try and get maximum feedback. My Junior Tourer seats are structurally complete but the soft furnishing/sprung element is more or less completely destroyed. Can anyone advise me on coach trimmers who would take on this restoration, preferably ...

Did you get all the info you need? My 1929 Junior has a complete chassis and I can send you pictures of any parts you need clarification on.

Re: Hello
In the end I went ahead alone with an engine hoist and the mooring ropes from our boat! In a small garage I have to think vertically so I lifted the body then fabricated a frame beneath from spare timber which was wide enough to roll the chassis out from underneath. It worked fine and I can now get ...
Re: Hello
Good tip Mike, thanks!
Re: Hello
That looks like a good idea Froux. Thanks for the tip. I plan to lure some strong friends round with promises of beer before revealing that they are actually at a 'Take the Body off the Singer' party!
Re: Hello
Nice to have talented friends - Dick (great folk singer and very indifferent instrumentalist) has made me a new stainless steel fuel tank. He welded a mild steel collar to the stainless and then brazed the original filler to that, so externally nothing will have changed. Just primed and started rubb...
Re: Hello
Just an update from Saturday morning: I knocked up a horse to support the bonnet so I can start the clean-up and prime. William had, I think, painted her in oil as a preservative (it didn't work too well) but it means I have a lot of de-greasing to do. Pictures show pitted front mudguards before pri...
