Sing 10 Starter Motor
Hi Everyone .. I have assembled a 10 hp Singer motor, only to find the starter motor will not mesh when activated. When I say it does not mesh, it actually does for a second or two and then just grinds away on the side of the ring gear .. I have had to reconstruct this motor from several Singer 9 an...

Re: Singer 4 AD Front Wheel Brake Adjusters
Hi Lois .. I had the same problem, and could not source the adjusters anywhere,.. I think the reason is that they are one piece with the brake backing plate. Probably what has happened over the years, is that previous owners have tightened the adjusters right up tight, and it breaks the weld that ho...

Hi Philip .. thanks for the info .. I have 39 chassis with lever type shock absorbers, I want to do away with them and fit tube shockers allround.
Guess I will have to make some brackets up, they look simple enough to make ..

Re: Hello
Hi Colin .. interesting project you have and it is coming along great .. good photos .. Looking at your chassis, it is a 1928 Junior and it has 4 telescopic shock absorbers .. are they standard to the car or were they fitted later .. I always thought they were fitted with lever arm shock absorbers. ...

Re: GearBox bell housing leaking oil
Hi Everyone .. not much of an update, my son has been undergoing tests and the prognosis is not good, so the Singer is on the back burner for quite a while,, but before this happened I did remove the breather as the previous owner had cut and welded it at right angles instead of the smooth bend that...

Re: Postwar singer barnfind
With the 'S" hood emblem, and the red enamel radiator badge it is the same as my 1952 4AD Singer .. wheels are 4AD, but looking at the front of the door it may have a vent that went on the 4A model, a bit hard to see.
My guess is a 4AD ..
hope this helps ..

Re: 4AD Twin carby manifolds
Thanks Mike .. I thought as much .. I am currently undertaking a TIG welding course and hopefully I will be skilled enough to make a manifold up .. just wondering what type of SU carbies, would suit... I have a couple off a Morris Minor 1000 but they look a little small for the job ..

Re: GearBox bell housing leaking oil
Finally I had a chance to get the Singer out for a decent run .. it was a combined run with our local Hillman club,.. Victor Harbor to Wellington around trip total of 148 miles ( 238 Klm) in 34 C heat with a hot north wind .. Singer went well with temperature going from the usual 140 F to 185 F due ...
