Re: The Restoration of AYW709
I planned on having the engine in by now but family got in the way. I also had forgotten that the front plate on the gearbox was not in since I had needed a shim between the plate and first motion shaft bearing. I ordered the shim 5 or 6 or 7 years ago but never installed it but of course I had asse...

Re: The Restoration of AYW709
someone has to keep posting... So, my motor is ready to drop in. Finished it up last night, have to attach the gearbox and done. Waiting on FedEX to drop off a new pilot busing for the crank this afternoon and also the modified driveshaft that is supposed to arrive today but tracking for that still ...

Re: The Restoration of AYW709
gloat away, its well deserved. My carbs look new, the fall of the piston is matched front to rear and have all new parts in them, does that count ? :) if it was not for that stupid oil gallery plug (2 of them) that I missed, I would have put the motor in over the weekend, for hopefully its final tim...

04B83CB8-1005-4D43-8DF7-A691BA188AEA.jpeg I know what all of you are thinking. Where did Mike get such gorgeous carbs? He lives in California surely you can’t get decent SU’s in California. Well it took this many to get 2 good ones. Different year HS2’s so different vacuum ports (could have worked)...

Re: The Restoration of AYW709
Hit a minor snag. The machine shop removed the oil gallery plugs on the block and I don’t have any to put in. Totally my fault but motor won’t go in today. So I can leisurely assemble it most of it. One plug is in the back so can’t put gearbox on either. I can get the oil pan and manifolds/ carbs on...

Not just quiet here but DEAD last few months. It happens there are up and down swings but yes Facebook is killing the forum. I am working on my car little but every day but on the motor and since it’s not a Singer motor I figured no one was interested so not posting. I make a point of being in the g...

Re: 4AD running board rubber ends
unfortunately, no one has made any of those in decades. The club had some but been out of stock forever. Not a hard thing to make on your own since you have at least one good to use as a pattern. A little bit of brass folded over a mould, I carved mine out of wood and then solder the tip and send it...

Re: 4ADT clutch arm/pedal chatter
Can you identify where the noise is coming from ? meaning inside the bell housing or at the arm itself ? it is possible the arm has too much slop at the pivot point and causing a rattle. The fact that when you put the clutch in the noise stops, implies its not the throwout bearing.

Re: outta here
ok, I am back and gone through all the new membership requests, that seems to have been the majority of the action on this forum while I was gone for 2 weeks. Only one valid new member out of 314 new requests. Nothing new, this forum averages 30 new members a day and really one valid one per month. ...

outta here
Ok boys and girls, everybody play together nice (as usual) for the next 2 weeks. I am outta here and will have very limited web access on my phone for 5 days driving around aimlessly in France, then home with my mother in the Bordeaux region so I will have access then. If something goes wrong with t...

Re: The Restoration of AYW709
Perfect, you have done almost all my work for me, thank you. I have a bad tendency to overbuild and overthink everything and when I actually get to work, I throw away all the stupid ideas. As a result, I have actually been rethinking all the fuses and was thinking maybe just a fusible link at the ba...
Re: US8155
I see what you mean about 6005 on the MG, I may have to rethink my color, good thing that so far I have only painted a few minor parts and can re-spray them. I had chosen 6005 only because I could get powder in the same color and I like to powder coat parts instead of paint. Thanks for the picture t...
