Running board rubber ends

Greetings, In an effort to do my best to bring the 1952 4AD back to near original, one OEM type part that has been very difficult to find have been these 8 chrome bullet ends on the running board rubber. I have found some that would work in a pinch, but do not look original. With that said, I have c...

Re: 1952 4AD crankcase breather pipe

Thanks Mark! This is exactly the information I needed. :P

Is there a way that this thread can be transferred to the 4s and up section? I assume that after a short time, this will be deleted from the classified section. This is info that someone will surely need in the future!

Thanks again!

Re: 4AD Paint Details

Thanks Peter! :P
I'm having to replace this piece of plywood and it's tempting to show-off the natural wood grain, but I want to keep it as original as possible.
Thanks again,

Re: 1952 4AD crankcase breather pipe

Greetings, As I suspected, replies to this post have not been overwhelming! Even Bill Haverly in the UK didn’t have one! With that said, I’ll put the backup plan into action, namely to make or repair the vent that I have. I say repair only because I do have the end that bolts to the crankcase ...

Re: 4AD Paint Details

All, I have seen several 4ADs with natural varnished wood on the upper firewall (where the hand tire pump mounts) area. Most I have seen are painted black. Is it safe to assume that this area should be painted a satin or semi-gloss black, or did some cars come with a clear varnish in this area. The ...

1952 4AD crankcase breather pipe

Hello all,

I am in need of a 1952 4AD crankcase breather vent pipe. It is an L shaped steel pipe that mounts to the front L/H side of the engine block and vents to the lower left side of the oil pan. If you have one that you can part with, please let me know.

Thanks, have a great day!

4AD Paint Details

Can anyone tell me what color the underside of the fenders, bonnet, engine side panels, and running boards were as they came from the factory? On the car that I’m restoring, the original color was a dark blue. Since the car has been painted 3 different colors over the past 60 years, I want to verify...

Re: 4AD bumpers

Thinking ahead for my restoration project, I would like to find a repairable set of original style bumpers. Someone out there might just have a set that can be restored. If so, please keep me in mind! :P I'm not sure where you're located Steve, but if you decide to go the MG route, and want to part ...

4AD Rear wheel bearing lock washers

At disassembly of my rear axles, one of the bearing nut lock washers was missing, the other is damaged beyond serviceable. Does anyone have a suggestion as how I might obtain these or something similar that can be modified to work? If push comes to shove, I'll have to make them. I thought I w...

Re: 54 roadster rear axle oil seals

Thanks guys, I figured it to be a chance to go synthetic. I'll go with the Castrol AP 80W-90 gear lube.
Thanks for all the help!!!!! :P

Re: 54 roadster rear axle oil seals

Is it safe to assume that there is no specific brand or type of gear oil recommended for the 4AD? I keep getting generic recommendations that synthetic is the way to go, but question if the seals are compatible :?:
