Engine rebuild

OK, the gloves are on, the bits have been gathered and the clock is ticking! The 4A engine that I picked up a few weeks ago has been stripped, cleaned and honed. Now the fun part... putting it all back together. I tore apart the engine in the Roadster soon after I purchased it, mostly since it did n...

My bonnet spine and end-caps came from Bill Haverly in the UK. They are Morris stock and the front end-cap does require some shortening. Also, the original Singer front end-caps was (from what I have been told) also a bit higher than the Morris offering so I had to add a spacer under it. Otherwise t...

Gene, I had the same problem with my car. My solution was to cut the car floor down the middle (from front to back) and gently spread out the floor, and hence the bottom edge near the doors, out by 1/8. Problem solved. ONLY KIDDING!! With the wood slowly warping on my car, I was faced with the same ...

Gene,

My car too has a bit of an "identity" crisis. An A Series with a 10 engine and a 4 speed gearbox...

I go with what the car was originally... an A Series. Then I can get into the rest of its history.

Nine & A Roadster Registrar

FYI, For those out there with Nine and A Series Roadsters, I have created an e-mail address for the Roadster Registrar: roadster_registrar@yahoo.com This way I can keep track of registrar stuff and when I pass the torch on to the next guy/gal then it can be seemless for the club & members. Paul

Gene, The headlamps on my car are Lucas LD 140's (8") with Cat's Eye lenses. As with many things Singer, cars were built with the parts on hand. Some cars could have had different equpment because the regular supply was not available. You are right about the other thing... they are expensive! I...

Merry Christmas (be damned with P.C.)

Ditto the above. I get to work today - tomorrow and Monday (Dec 24-25-26). It is actually a nice time to work! Everyone is in good spirits, and if not - I arrange for them to be strip-searched upon arrival by some guy NOT happy to work on Christmas (one of the lesser known benefits of being a purser...

Steering Box

Hmmmm.... I have 2 spare steering boxes at home (box #1 and box #2). Both are in rough shape in different areas and I can probably make one out of the two. So, with all this talk of steering, I thought that I would take a closer look at them. I used the 9A Parts Catalogue (plate 9) as my guide to th...
