Re: New Project

Have you seen a Japanese Rasp - see https://www.toolnut.co.uk/products/japanese-saw-rasp?utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=googlepla&variant=40901959756 . They are like a set of hacksaw blades joined on their edge and are great for fast shapping, better than a rasp. There is a rough and smooth side....

Re: New Project

Having rebuilt three convertibles, one point I was told very early on was to place and secure the radiator first and then work all body placement from that data point. For me this was important as in each case the body runner timbers had to be replaced so there no real old holes for placing body bol...

Re: LUCAS SLC2 Switch

Hi, I still keep my eye out for a reasonably priced original but at present I will be using the Dave Hardwick case as per above with my modified internals. That seems to work well with car stationary and I see no reason why that will change. My gen has been rewired to a single phase unit so I dont n...

Making up a knew harness comes to a stall as we head off to UK Rally - see you there if slso attending. I didn’t realise that building this harness would take so long. As you can see I am adding extra fuse boxes, out of sight. The harness will be btsided when finished. I am using a Lucas db10 relay ...

Advertising material

A question. I have seen a brochure that covers the 1936 lm/roadster, but never one yet for the
1933/34.

Was there one, or am I wasting my time looking?

Re: New Project

That style of opener seems todate from the 1920s/1930s - could have been used in the christening of the car?

Re: New Project

Hesitantly, to change the subject, looking at one of those planks, my inclination would be to replace the whole unit. Having gone this far, it may be the easier task, and use marine ply.

By the way when were openers first needed, give you the party date?

Re: Rebirthing one '34 from a '33 & a '34

It could always be better, but it looks slightly original. I will cut to final size when apron is bolted down and then have chromed.

Re: Rebirthing one '34 from a '33 & a '34

I have worked out that there is a strict assembly order for the radiator etc , the light mounts and the front guards. I need to take off the radiator, mount the guard brackets , install the guards and then remount the radiator. If only there were a set of instructions! At this point I will not drill...

Re: Rebirthing one '34 from a '33 & a '34

Thanks for the compliment, but my wife doesn’t think it is tidy, but she is happier now that the body panels have moved out of the wardrobes! That only leaves a few boxes with headlights etc and she will be very happy.
