Full is 8" down, Half is 9 1/4" and the end of the stick is 11". By the way, The loop extends 2 1/2 inches above the block and is 1" diameter(OD).

Good Luck,

Re: 4AD rear axle

Don,
I've tried to send you an e-mail twice using the link on this site, but apparently without success. I'll need your address to figure shipping cost. Please e-mail me at: mrt2019@cs.com

Re: 4AD rear axle

I suggest that you do a search on this site for "Moss rear axles for 4AD". If, after reading the comments, you still want an original Singer axle, I can sell you one for $200.

Re: 4AD Oil Filter Spring

Hello Fred,
Yes, I have had no problems with this setup. And yes, it does need the spring to seal at the top. Also, I use a rubber washer on top of a flat fender washer (large OD) to provide a seal at the bottom as well and fill in the 3/16" difference.

Re: 4AD Engine Parts

If you have to sleeve one cylinder, you may be better off sleeving all four. That way, you may keep from having to source oversize pistons and/or rings and having a mismatch for the next person to have to figure out. Just a thought....

Re: GearBox bell housing leaking oil

When I rebuilt my 1952 4AD engine, I found that it didn't have a rear main seal. Instead it had a reverse thread (labrynth ?) arrangement that was designed to sling the oil back toward the engine. Is there a way for you to differentiate whether the oil is coming from your engine or transmission? Vis...

Re: 4AD Sliding Window Handles

Stephen,
Try www.woolies-trim.co.uk
They have some pulls that should work. They won't be identical to the original, but should work fine.

Re: Bracket attached to windscreen, 4AD

Good Question. I am not sure, but I always thought they were travel limiters that keeps the arm from swinging an arc off of the windscreen. This would probably only occur if the motor gears stripped or jumped time. Any one else have any other ideas or know for sure what they are for? I doubt that it...

Re: Body Parts ???

Hello Phillip, The six parts makes sense from a fabrication perspective. When I restored my 1952 4AD, I replaced most of the wood on the tub and removed the skin in one piece. It must have been seamed quite well, as I was unable to detect any weld lines in the skin. I'll have to go back and look at ...

Body Parts ???

I am looking for the aluminum body panel that wraps around the rear tub on a 1953 4ADT. The one I am restoring has a right and left panel but is missing the rear section below the boot lid. It appears the panels were separated rather haphazardly and irregularly (cut unevenly). On my 1952 4AD the rea...

Re: Blown Head Gasket!

Thanks for the suggestions! I assembled the side plate using Permatex high-temperature red silicone sealant. I used copper coat for the exhaust manifold and head gaskets. In the past, I have installed the head without the exhaust manifold attached. This time I installed the exhaust manifold at the s...

Thanks Stephen,
Do you have any specifics about the plugs you adapted? Size? Brass or Steel? Concave or Plug? Brand? Model No.? Website? Store?
