Re: Moss Rear Axles for 4AD
I understand about keeping things original, but safety, reliability, and driveability are another thing. I am not advocating changing to a different rear end. Most of you have spent thousands of dollars not to mention hundreds of hours restoring your cars. Do you really want to have to fix body dama...

Re: Moss Rear Axles for 4AD
Mark, I do not have a short term solution to your problem. A long term solution is to send your axles to Moser Engineering and have them make you new axles. You will never have a problem with them again. I would guess it would be 3-4 weeks turn around and probably $400-500. They made the axles for m...

Re: '53 4AD front shocks
Ken, My car is a 1952 4AD. The shocks fit perfectly on my car. I have driven over 750 miles and they work fine. I do not know what the difference could be between your car and mine. If you read in the previous replies above John is also using the same shock on his car. If you can find a patient part...

4AD Convertible Top
After taking Mark Thompson's old convertible top to 4 different shops. Getting outrageous quotes between 1400-2000 dollars just for the top. I took Patrick Desmond's advice and called KIP Motors from Texas. They are making convertible tops for the 4 AD. They are the original design using canvas. The...

Roof (Convertible Top)
I know I asked this question a few months ago. Has the old convertible top pattern been located? I am ready to have mine made for my 1952 4AD. I would really like to have an old one to use for a pattern. I know other people were interested. If it can be located I could get a quote on getting 5 or 6 ...

Bill,
I pressed the old sleeves out and used them and the old bolts in the new shocks.

Re: '53 4AD front shocks
I used Gabriel # G63902 on my 1952 4 AD. They fit perfectly. If you want to use the original lower bolts, you can press the old metal bushings out of the old shocks and install them in the new shocks. Or you can buy metric bolts that fit.

Re: OIL PUMP PRESSURE
John, You state below that you will have a surplus of pressure because all of the oil will not be returning to the sump. Whether the oil pan is 1/4 full or overflowing the pressure is going to remain constant as long as the sump is submerged in oil. The way to increase the oil pressure would be firs...

Re: Hood for 4AD
Mike,
As you know my car is not original, so authenticity is not important. I live near a few marinas so I was going to have them stitch me a top. I can have it done without a pattern, but it would be a lot easier with one.

Paul,
Be careful what you wish for. A friend from Australia once invited me to stop by if I was ever in the area. Well, three years ago I took him up on his offer and stayed for a week. LOL

Re: V-6 Singer 4 AD
My insurance papers arrived today so off I went to the motor vehicle office. My car is officially on the road. I drove it about 50 miles and it ran flawlessly. It is a blast to drive. Lots of power and real brakes. I can't wait to drive it some more this weekend. I don't care how much gasoline is. I...

Re: rebuilding wood joints
Paul, I guess it will be interesting to see what happens to my car. There is no wood left in the front cowl area, replaced with steel by the previous owners. I completely boxed my frame and there is very wood left in the rear section. The doors and boot lid are the only things restored as original. ...

Re: 4AD Firewall Details and Layout?
Paul,
Where and when was the picture of the inline six roadster taken? It is the car I bought off of eBay two years ago! Who ever did the work did not do a good job. That was the reason I had to redo the entire car.
