Re: Need help on value of 53 4AD project
Since no one else has replied I will put my 2 cents in. My take on this project is that it is worth around $3,500.00. Now, I know you have way more money than this into it! But, it is not a running, driving car. The interior, convertible top, and paint alone will between 10-15,000 if done profession...

Re: Help identifying coupe
I use a spray called coppercoat on copper head gaskets, made by Permatex I think. Have also used aluminum spray paint in a pinch.

Re: New Project
If you are only using LED's you will have to use a special turn signal flasher or you can wire in old style incandescent light bulbs and hide them somewhere. The old bulbs provide the resistance necessary for a normal old style flasher.

The ring gear should tap off the flywheel, but You will need to heat it up to install it again.

Any competent driveline shop can retube your driveshaft if you can't find a good used one.

Re: Valve Job - Cam, Lifters, Etc - Where to buy
I am sure someone else will be along with some suggestions for parts, but you can send the camshaft to Lunati cams and they can weld and regrind it back to stock.

I have been using Egge engine parts in California for years. They had stainless steel valves for my 1930 Indian in stock!

Re: Electronic Ignition for 4AD ?
Mark, You cannot buy a decent condenser anymore. I converted my Sunbeam over to Pertronix (change 3 condensers in less than 6 months, AZ heat?) and have been extremely happy with results. I would think if you crossed the distributor numbers over, the Lucas number would match another car and be readi...

Re: What's everyone working on
I am currently working on a 1930 Indian 4 cylinder motorcycle. One of my best friends was in a very bad accident on it and he did not want to ride again, so I bought it from him. I just finished rebuilding the engine after the cases were welded up. The frame looks like a pretzel, so I will be cuttin...

Re: 4AD Rear wheel bearing lock washers
Why not just use a plain flat washer with Red Loctite? If you do need to take it off again a little heat with a propane torch will suffice.
