Re: Barn find 52 4AD

Hi William, I am going to assume that the information you received from the museum references the Roadster factory record cards that were saved. The "trim" or "trimming" refers to the interior seats, door panels and carpets. I don't recall a paint code called "Oriental Blue&...

Re: Barn find 52 4AD

Hi Gerrardo, Congratulations on the restoration of your Singer and welcome to the board. Gerrado_Singer_4A_WEB.jpg Looking at your car, it is actually a 4A, not an A Series, which means that it would be a 1950 or 1951. The A Series was produced from 1946 to 1949. The clues are the lack of scuttle ve...

Re: Barn find 52 4AD

White was not a factory colour for the 4AD, but there were a few different blues. The nicest in my opinion was Coronation Blue, which was a very fine metallic and looked very nice with the gray interior that it came with.

Re: fuel sender

Hi William,

That is indeed a Roadster fuel tank, including the filler neck and cap.

I think I have an original sending unit in my spares somewhere...I will check...

I believe the original is 0 - 90 Ohms

Hope that helps!

Re: What coolant to use

I down-loaded the photos so I could zoom in on the details. This car also has the original..and very rare...wiper arms, as well as the original running board rubber and end caps! Here's a period photo of the interior of the '35 Le Mans 4 seater: ADU 981 Longtail.jpg I need to correct myself on the s...

Re: What coolant to use

Thanks so much for the photos. What an amazing find! Original carbs, coil, cut-out, tool clips, tin-top junction box, oil filler cap, and lots more. All original instruments, starter button, Solex choke cable. Correct interior door handles. Steering wheel is a replacement Blumels, not the original '...

Re: What coolant to use

Hi Michael, Apologies for not being able to respond sooner, but it looks like Colin has already sent you in the right direction. I've also had great support from Martyn Wray in the past. He is Club Secretary of the Singer Owners Club - UK. Also echoing Colin's sentiments, congratulations on the disc...

Re: 1946 singer--need tires

Yes. Any of these would probably be good. Just check the overall width of the sidewall and overall diameter to make sure they will fit in the trunk. The Avon Tourist used to be one favoured by the late Bill Haverly, the well-known ASCO Roadster Registrar, but the budget Universal would probably be f...

Re: 1946 singer--need tires

Hey Grant, The originals were 5.00/5.25 x 16 Goodyear All-Weather tires with a distinctive diamond style tread. it's a fairly odd size in North America. Modern sizes tend to be larger than original tire forms and you have be careful as they will not fit into the spare wheel well and the trunk lid wi...

Here's Tony's car again parked next to your car (far left) at The Queen's English when Paul and I flew out to Los Angeles and we had the first Singer display at the show.

Re: looking for info on a 35 or 36 LM

Mike, There was a reference to this car made by Bill Boddy in Motor Sport March 1989 "A Singer Le Mans enthusiast in California is rebuilding a 1936 two-seater (CBH 594), and has found in America, the 11/2-litre Singer (WP 4970) which Alf Langley drove in the 1934 Scottish Rally, when it finish...
