Re: Auto advance?

The Le Mans ignition timing is 1 7/8 BTDC, but I wouldn't compare that to the 4AD. The first thing I would do is to make sure the valve timing is correct. Go to http://singerninehpengine.blogspot.com/ ... thing.html and find out how to do it. This is most likely your issue.

Sounds like your oil thrower (Mexican Hat) is either worn or missing.

Re: Ottawa British Car Day 2022

It was blazing hot, but at least it was a lovely 20 mile drive for Lindsay and I in the morning. The afternoon drive home was a little less enjoyable.

Ottawa British Car Day 2022

This was the first OBCD in two years. It was very much a scaled down version with about sixty cars. I'm not sure why this was. Perhaps the organizers were just testing the waters for the new venue. The latter, by the way, doesn't hold a candle to the Britannia Beach venue, but it seems the Beach is ...

Re: Gear box noise and primary gear bearing fixation

Check the bronze bush that carries 2nd and 3rd gear. The centre collar breaks off and allows the gears to float.

Re: The Restoration of AYW709

I assume they were original. I had a full complement of them on my Nine Sports which had all those sorts of bits as original. Here's a shot of Bob's very original '34 Le Mans as well which has the same cast brass toggles.
