As per Pekkas list above I had a few old solex carbies laying around, not fai 30's but it looked like most of the components are interchangeable from one model to the next. Choke 24 Main Jet ...

Re: Solex Carburetor

Hi Pekka,.. .. I will be in the shed tomorrow to pull the carby off and go through it and make sure it has the specifications you have listed and run it again to see if it fixes the problem. One thing I did not mention was that when slowing down to a stop light after a long run, the motor backfires ...

Re: 4AD engine Freeze Plugs

Hi Mark .. I am not going to be much help to you unfortunately .. But I just measured an old block I have here and the size comes up at 29.32 mm or 1 5/32 " You can only use the dome type plugs. as the recess for them in the block is very narrow, and the standard deep side plugs of today with t...

Re: 4AD engine Freeze Plugs

Hi Mark,.. I had the same problem last year when rebuilding my 4AD motor, and the welsh plug or freeze plug as you call them, in the correct size is almost, or impossible to find. You may find some new old stock at a swap meet, but I gave up after attending numerous large swaps and finding nothing. ...

Re: 4AD Singer Kingpins

Hi Pekka .. Thanks for the detailed information, and the info about tightening the castle nut on top, because that was the first thing I was about to try .. It seems that the best way to go about it, is to start by moving the 1 1/4" long bush upwards by 20 mm to see if it helps with the problem...
