Re: Hood has shrunk

Thanks. Here in not so sunny England I may have a long wait for a warm sunny day!

Hood has shrunk

I've rather stupidly left my 9A roadster in the lockup with the hood down and it's shrunk by a considerable amount. Is there any way of reversing this? Heat/steam? It's mohair canvas I believe and only a few years old. TIA

Re: G'day from Western Australia

I've just finished the A-series swap (Morris Minor 1098cc) and the MM speedo cable was a direct fit to the Singer speedo and works as it should. No tacho in mine. It still needs a bit of a tune up but drives so much better than the knackered original engine/3 speed box. I had a prop made from scratc...

Re: Knocking front suspension

Having replace bushes and a wheel bearing to no avail I finally twigged it was the propshaft hitting the chassis due to a terminally perished gearbox mount. Universal replacement fitted and no more knocking. Result!

I had considered that, but there's no evidence of any contact anywhere

Knocking front suspension

Well, finally been able to get out for a few test drives in the 9A, and there is an alarming rythmic knocking from the front left when going round right hand bends. I've replaced a disintegrated bush on the top of the drop link of the left shock absorber and assumed this would cure it, but it's as b...

Longstone tyres here in the UK, though I imagine shipping to you would be expensive!

Re: Under bonnet colours?

That's great thanks, and tallies with the concensus over on the Facebook group. I also have black gloss and red oxide in the garage so looks like I'm good to go!

Under bonnet colours?

Trying to put lockdown idleness to good use by tidying up under the bonnet of my 47 9A. Like so much else on the car it's been very crudely brush painted with whatever Dulux one of the previous owners had to hand, in this case a pale grey. What colour SHOULD the bulkhead panels and the engine itself...

Re: fuel sender

Well that was a result! Old sender unit came off with no problems, and the float arm was seized solid. A bit of WD40, and a lot of jiggling back and forth and I now have a working fuel gauge. For future reference the original is indeed 0-90 Ohms. Anyone have any use for a brand new 30 ohm universal ...

Re: fuel sender

Gauge looks great, but mine is in a segment of the right hand clock along with oil and amps. The sender looks very similar to the one I bought, but 0-30 variant. They seem to make them in a lot of different resistance ranges

Re: fuel sender

That's great thanks. I had to wait an annoyingly long time for the 30 ohm one to come from America. Can't seem to find a supplier this side of the pond or outside China that does the universal fitting type so I'll see if I can do anything with the original one in the car first.

Re: fuel sender

Thanks. I'll get the original out this weekend and see if anything can be done with it.
