Re: 4A Front Suspension Rebuild

Ouch on the front bolts. From my memory they are not stepped so once everything g is drilled and tapped a replacement should be relatively easy to find. I am sure that there are a couple of North American sources and failing that the UK.

Good luck

Re: Ring Gear for 4A

Ring gear usually wear in two spots 180 degrees apart from each other. They are a press fit so you can try to take it off and rotate it by 90 degrees and/or flip it around front to back. Just check to see if the teeth are the same profile on the front and back.

Re: 4A Front Suspension Rebuild

This can be a satisfying project to and one that may contribute to a direct improvement in the feel of the car when driving. Bushings are available in the UK, however my source is no longer with us anymore. Bill Haverly was a wealth of information as well as an excellent purveyor of things Singer, e...

Re: Steering box mounting

Hi. there us a "U" shaped bracket that hold the and of the steering column in place. That bracket is bolted to the cross member that also serves as the front base for the front engine mount. To assist in reducing torque from the steering there is also a brace near the bottom of the steerin...

Re: NASOC 40th - STOWE, 2014...FINAL SCHEDULE...

Another Stowe has come and gone. While the number of cars did not match our all-time high of a couple of years ago there were plenty of members and other enthusiasts to make things interesting! The weather held out and the expected rain did not appear. The temperature did make the coffee vendors hap...

Re: NASOC 40th - STOWE, 2014...FINAL SCHEDULE...

Everyone is probably in their final preparations for the show... as are we! The theme for this year is "Toys for Boys" or "Big Toys for Big Boys" If you have any Singer related toys (aside from your own car of course) then feel free to bring it along. My trusty old Roadster will ...

Re: 4AD Paint Details

Hi Fred,

The inside of the bonnet was painted black. I would presume that the side panels for the bonnet were also black. As for the rest (wings, running boards, etc. ) I can't say for sure.

Hope that this helps!

Re: STOWE 2012 AN AMAZING SUCCESS!

XXII - 22nd British Invasion at Stowe... 22 Singers in attendance! I was amazed at the turnout! A big thank you to all who attended with or without cars. As usual Stowe is not without its bumps! Dave Craig's Gazelle suffered from fuel pump problems on the return half of the Ballam Run. Lucky (if you...

Re: super 10

Hi John,

Great News! Spares for the Super Ten are few and far between BUT they do surface from time to time. Fortunately, like most other Singers, parts substitutes are the way to go. Things like engines, brakes and electricals are easier than body panels.

Re: Singer (9) Engine identification?

Very curious, very curious indeed! It is a 1074 that is for sure. The interesting thing that I saw was that you have a SU Petrol pump on the bulkhead... the A and 4A had a mechanical pump just below the distributor (it is actually driven by a cam on the distributor/oil pump drive shaft). Does your e...

Re: Convertible top rear end attachment

Hi Kabu, You are correct that the bottom edge of the top is attached to the wood spar that runs across the back of the compartment. I have seen what I believe to be original material still stuck on the spar that is doubled over making me think that a single layer of material may not be enough so it ...
