Re: photo of fuel cap

Hello Walter, Here are photos of the cap that I have on my '47 A. This is not the original however the important thing is the spring clip that hold it on plus the vent hole, as Phillip mentions. This one is not the original however it functions the same. I added the chain so that I would not lose it...

Re: Replica waterslide transfers

Looks amazing! Your suggestion is warranted... there may be some trial and error involved. Going way way way back to my younger days making model kits, there are some “softeners” for water transfer decals that may assist with them fitting the various curves. Micro Sol was one, Solvaset another. I’m ...

Re: Replica waterslide transfers

Wow! More "unobtanium". Once you know the pricing I am in too. If you can slip 2 in with my previous order (funds were sent last week) that would be great. I don't mind holding off on the other item while waiting and can send payment in the mean time. And if Mr Avis does order some then yo...

Re: Greetings! In search of an expert

The car does look to be very nice! Looking at the photos on eBay, the trafficator switch (middle of the dash attached to the cowl) seems to be installed upside down, but that's a minor thing. As mike said, the engine repair is a common thing. Water freezing is the likely culprit with this. I have se...

Re: 1950’s roadster

Hi David, The stamped serial number on the frame of the 4AD that I was part of restoring was on the right side (passenger side of a left hand drive car) just behind the front wheel. Our car (another 4AD) was a it on the rusty side and the stamping was pretty light so easy on the grinding in this are...

Re: fuel pipe between pump and carburetor

Hello! I have a '48 A Series that has the same engine as yours, but different a different carburettor. The fuel pipe looks to be authentic, with the coil just before it goes to the carb bowl. The other end should connect to the pump which is driven by the same shaft that powers the distributor. Ther...

Re: rear brakes Bantam & 10 hp

Hi David, I have a Super 10 and have been able to remove the brake shows without removing the hubs or half shafts. Exactly how, I do not recall. It was late, dark and I was tired but I did manage to get them off and back on. From what I remember, I had removed the lower pivot bolt which cave more fl...

Hi Danish, the badge looks very nice! Please add me to the list and for shipping... add mine to Phillip's order as we work at the same location and are not that far away. Nice find and work!

Re: 4A Front Suspension Rebuild

Ouch on the front bolts. From my memory they are not stepped so once everything g is drilled and tapped a replacement should be relatively easy to find. I am sure that there are a couple of North American sources and failing that the UK.

Good luck

Re: Ring Gear for 4A

Ring gear usually wear in two spots 180 degrees apart from each other. They are a press fit so you can try to take it off and rotate it by 90 degrees and/or flip it around front to back. Just check to see if the teeth are the same profile on the front and back.

Re: 4A Front Suspension Rebuild

This can be a satisfying project to and one that may contribute to a direct improvement in the feel of the car when driving. Bushings are available in the UK, however my source is no longer with us anymore. Bill Haverly was a wealth of information as well as an excellent purveyor of things Singer, e...

Re: Steering box mounting

Hi. there us a "U" shaped bracket that hold the and of the steering column in place. That bracket is bolted to the cross member that also serves as the front base for the front engine mount. To assist in reducing torque from the steering there is also a brace near the bottom of the steerin...
