Re: LM Rear Axle

The reason I asked Hans-Christoph to post on this forum about checking that his axle, was not only was it a Singer, but was it a Le Mans.
The rear of the axle casing does not appear to be bolted on with a ring of bolts, but a sealed fit.

Re: Short introduction

I thought when I saw your name that it was significant. It was a great journey for you, I remember it well. A tremendous achievement. One of my fellow Hereford Austin Seven Club members, Kip Waistell, has done this trip twice with Austin Sevens in 2007 with one other car and 2012 with his wife drivi...

Re: Jaeger speedometer

A household fork as in knife, fork and spoon, works well without damage for removing the needle/pointer.

Morris 8 wiring diagram shows the electric pump. Feed wire is white which matches the description I posted earlier.

Re: Wiring Colour Codes for 29 Junior

Thus may be of interest. Lucas Standard Wiring Colours. I know it mentions radio and indicators but the system was certainly evolved in the 1930s if not before. Re: Petrol taps that don't leak

Had similar issues with two of my Austin Sevens. Either the tap leaked, or became so stiff that damage was likely to the fuel tank where the outlet union is mounted. I gave up on the push/pull with cork seals type. The first lever action I tried, leaked and became stiff quite quickly. Ministrations ...

Re: Le Mans seats and upholstery

The book only contains details of the 1934 back rest, not the cushions. Mostly the data covers the bucket seats.

The book Is a bible for purist restorers. It is very well worth hunting a copy down.

I'll have a look for pictures. If not I can go and visit the car. It’s only 4 miles away.

Do you have any photos or other information? Presumably you no longer have the car.

Re: Le Mans seats and upholstery

My 34 LM had seats as you describe. One backrest and two cushions. I believe they were remade in the 1970s, so originality is not known. I can state that the cushions were held in place by the hi tech solution of a bolt sticking downwards which went through a hole in the floor. No nut. Just worked a...
