Re: Chassis plate versions

I have three chassis plates and I would have sworn they were all the same, but on closer look, they are as follows: L4AD1849V - Shell/Wakefield/Esso/Vacuum/Prices L4AD2848W & L4AD2699W(parts car) - Esso/Vacuum/Prices/Shell/Wakefield Otherwise, they are the same (no variations within the columns ...

Re: British Car Show in Hot Springs, Arkansas, seeks Singers

I am registered for the concours and my car has been selected as one of five cars to be spotlighted at the VIP dinner on Friday night before the concours on Saturday. I hope that I represent Singer well. Anyone else coming?

Re: 1952 4AD Roadster rear axle wanted

Stephen, Sorry to hear about your axle problem. I recommend you replace the axles with alloy axles, especially if you have a twin carburetor 4AD. I sheared an axle on my single carburetor 4AD back in 2005. I've driven 10,000 miles without any more problems. Dutchman Motorsports did mine for a little...

Re: WANTED Singer Car Owners Information

I'm curious. What are the current numbers for known Singers in North America?

Re: Brass wire mesh

Hello Michael,

For my 4AD (1497cc), I used 30 x 30 mesh with 0.012" wire. I used stainless steeel (304) and got it from Grainger.
http://www.grainger.com
Item #3DNF5, 12 inch x 12inch for $3.12 USD.

Hope this helps,

Re: The Dreaded Question: Prices!

I think you all are selling our marque a little short! If the woodwork is okay, and the drivetrain is original and runs and the interior needs minimal work..... The chrome appears from the pictures to be in good shape. The interior, woodwork and chrome can each be a major expense. I'm thinking more ...

Re: Building spark plug wires

Yeah, try that crank even if you only rotate the engine a little bit, it might help. It could be a worn spot on the ring gear.

Best Wishes,

Re: 2 Down, 1 1/2 to go

Mike, I admit that I know nothing about pre-war Singers, but I thought I'd throw in my two cents worth. If you think the mesh filters on the 4ADs will work, I may be able to help. When I rebuilt my 4AD engine recently, I replaced the filter on the oil pump pickup for the SM 1500 engine. I made a cou...

Re: Start and Choke knobs

Pekka,

Some additional information:

The radius at the rear of the knob appears to be about 3/16" (fits a 3/8" drill bit). The chrome dash face plate behind the knobs is 5/8 inch diameter.

Re: Start and Choke knobs

Hello Pekka, I have been following your detailed restoration for several years and I am quite impressed with your diligence and capabilities for producing your own parts. I would be glad to help with your requested information. The overall diameter of the knobs is 7/8 inch or 22mm. The shaft diamete...

Rubber Bonnet Bumpers

I still have several hundred rubber bonnet bumpers if anyone needs some. They are available, basically for shipping & handling charges of $5 for 12, or $10 for 25. Each car requires 8 and a few spares are handy. Not trying to get rich, just making them available to anyone that needs them. These ...
