It's not the best example out there but as Colin said you never see them for sale. Its slightly too early for my Junior so probably could be persuaded to let it find a new home on an actual car.

In theory the needle just pulls off as it is only held on with friction. In practice it rarely does.
I use a pair of bent pliers which allow you to get a push from behind and this always works, although you need to protect the face where you lever against
