Re: OIL PUMP PRESSURE
Okay, here is a second shot at my long letter… A lot has happened since I made my original post a year ago. My early experiences showed that there was too little space within the engine block to contain all of my tubing, without risking destruction against a spinning crankshaft counterweight. As a r...

Re: OIL PUMP PRESSURE
Mike: No photos, just text...lots of it. Just when I gave the Submit command, I noticed a new posting to this thread (Indian301), and I clicked on it to read it. I then answered that post, as a sort of continuation. When I made the second submit command, I noticed that there were two copies of that ...

Re: OIL PUMP PRESSURE
Oh, No! I spent nearly an hour describing all aspects of my oiling system modifications, along with the big failure, but it does not appear in this thread. Mikey, was it lost?

Re: OIL PUMP PRESSURE
"You state below that you will have a surplus of pressure because all of the oil will not be returning to the sump. Whether the oil pan is 1/4 full or overflowing the pressure is going to remain constant as long as the sump is submerged in oil. " Dave, you missed my point. The factory syst...

Re: Direction Indicator Mystery on Roadsters
I'm extremely busy at this moment, and cannot get into the real details of explanation, but I recently built a complete new wiring harness for my race car. It has non-functional trafficators. I solved the problem of the two-filament tail lights by incorporating a readily-available "Hoppy" ...

Re: My Project Vogue
Never saw one of these before. Looks like you might be able to modify some 1957 "Christine" Plymouth parts to fit the front end! If there is any truth to the legend, you could just set up a La-Z-Boy in the garage, and watch it fix itself...(I tried to insert a smiley here, but I'm too dumb...

Re: Direction Indicator Mystery on Roadsters
Just saw this string. I'm not an expert in this, but I believe that 1954 was the year of the big change in US vehicular lighting specs. Prior to that, turn signals were not mandatory in this country. They were standard on many US Cars by that time, but mainly the more expensive models. Since these S...

4AD Gaskets
I have been making all of the gaskets for my 4AD, excepting the head gasket. My engine was a sort of "Basket case", so many of the gaskets were not available for reference. Does anyone know what correct material I should use to make the gasket that goes between the side cover plate and the...

Need another oil pump line
Well, I bit the bullet today, and ended up destroying my internal oil feed line (from oil pump to oil gallery block) in a failed attempt to modify that line for a full-flow filter circuit. I had been trying to modify this line using common hardware parts, so that others could duplicate it, but every...

Just before the oil flows into the gallery, it hits a pressure setting relief valve, controlled by a spring. That valve limits the pressure of the oil that enters the gallery on its way to the bearings, etc. It is correctly set when the thinned-out hot oil leaves a residual pressure (after completin...
