I don't know the model of your car but the engine looks like mine, a '34.
Hope this helps. Bob

Re: Le Mans 2 Seater Dashboard

Possible slight confusion, in that it was the inner cables I used which were bicycle cables (not the levers). They had the same cylindrical lead (?) end piece as the original Bowden cables so a direct substitute. Thus I could use the original levers and cable casings. They have worked fine for 50 ye...

Re: Le Mans 2 Seater Dashboard

clock hands.JPG As promised, the close up. Proof that Phil's are also original (and looking a little smarter than mine)! I will have to take the picture of the advance retard levers over the weekend. The choke on the dash was positioned for the original Solex carbs, however when I obtained the '35 ...

Re: Le Mans 2 Seater Dashboard

Just for interest's sake, I am pretty sure I used replacement bicycle cables in the Bowdens for the advance /retard and manual throttle in mine when I replaced them back in the 60's. They were plentifully available for bicycle cable brakes and derailleur gears back then as the shifters on the downtu...

Re: Le Mans 2 Seater Dashboard

Hi, thought you might like to see this. mine is an early '34 two seater SS. 40+ years ago when I bought her as a penniless engineering student I made some typical 60's "adjustments" but the dash is original and the holes for the instruments are as drilled by the factory in March of '34. Th...

Re: AVM 894

Just a follow up to your post Peter, I believe the Alpine Trial competitors all had to have the radiator caps sealed to ensure coolant was not added, which may explain that AVM had to have the sealable cap for the competition. Later photos of the car in the Inter University trials show AVM's radiato...

Re: Original 1934 Le Mans

That's great news about Bob. His Dad took Bob and me to one of the first Montreal GP's back in the late 70's. We must all get together.

Re: Original 1934 Le Mans

The Eaton's Fall collection photo shoot! Somewhere I have a picture of AVM being driven off by Michael York with Gail Honeycutt (a voluptuous lady) trying to get herself and fur coat into the passenger side- with the top up! Phil if you still have those old pics I would love another copy. I must say...

Re: Original 1934 Le Mans

Not the Promenade Percy I thought she was! Just before Christmas I received an email from Martyn Wray to say that he had been contacted by a previous owner of my car looking for more information and would I be prepared to share some photos. He had found photos of AVM894 on the web at Stowe 2014. I h...
