Re: 1953 California 4AD

I have mounted a standard V-belt on my 4A, it is only important to mount the right thickness.

And what is the official name?
(My seats also needs a rebuild and the top is complete rusted)

Re: Le Mans recreation

Try the Dutch Singer club, I also have a list from cars / numbers / licence plates, in some magazines. If the car was from a club member, the details are written there. If I know the Dutch numberplate, (or chassis number) I can look in the Singer songs from 2006 if there was a club member who owns t...

Re: Dynamo C39PV2 22258

Most of the UK cars from that period have a Lucas dynamo, on my 4A the one is the same as the Morris Minor, my other car.
Only the pulley is different.

Re: New Project

I always use a grease gun for old brake cylinders, so why not for this?
Only make a "head" with a grease nipple and maybe put a plate on top from the piston to avoid damage on it.

Re: Telescopic shock absorbers (dampers)

You can use also a pair from an old Morris Minor, they are not far from the ones who are mounted on the 4A Roadsters..

Re: Dash question(s)

Important is the type of the car, if yours is the 4A, the trafficator switch is on the steering wheel. I think a copy from an original dashboard is not easy to find. A lot are modified, or replaced by "home made" . Mine is a 4A, it looks like with a copy from he original, but to much damag...

Re: Steering box removal

I think you have the rh wing off? Disconnect the wiring from trafficators and horn, then the clamp for the pipe where the wiring goes out. Take the horn push out, the steering wheel off, and the bracket on the inside from the dashboard. Then the steering box bolts, and you have him. What is the reas...

Re: Steering box 4A problems

When I bought the project, it were 2.5 cars in parts, 2 chassis, 3 front axles, 12 wheels, and all the serial numbers from the body / axles / engine etc are the right ones. I did not look to it till the first test drive, the other car is sold a year ago. All the wheels were the same. 20201010_145423...

Modified, now the both sides are the same and the tire cannot be touched by the bolt.
Strange why this was the solution. If somebody knows, pleas tell, I still have the original arm.

Re: 46 to 49 roadster restoration Australia ladies

On one of your pictures, I see the steering box with bars to the wheels. I am interested in a picture from the steering wheel complete to the left, and then how far the bolt is from the tyre. In my car I have a problem with that, but your pictures all the parts looks to be mounted on the same way as...

Re: Steering box 4A problems

I saw a car wit a straight arm, mine is bended. The max left is 5 cm less as the max right turn. With a test drive to the left, I need a lot of room to go on the road. Does somebody have pictures from a 4A with the wheels complete to the left, to see the difference? I know only the 4A (or the Nine) ...

Re: Steering box 4A problems

Front and rear are right, the axle is in the right position on the chassis.
The brakes are working normal with the default lengths from the bars.
I had an extra pair from them and all were normal fitting after just a few turns adjustment
