my question concerns the 4A motor and the article you referenced is for the 4AD. Are the torque figures the same? I did find a ref on our site to torque figures suggested by Bill Haverly but I couldn't find his article.
So I still need the 4 torque spec.s for my Singer 10 hp engine.
TIA,
Charlie

Rodding out the engine block coolant passages
Hi Folks, On the advice of my local gurus(including the guy at a machine shop that rebuilds engines) , I used the following procedure to clean out the engine block. 1. Using coat hanger wire, long thin screw driver, gravity, gun cleaning brushes, get as much gunk (LOTS)out as possible (see attached ...

Singer 10 vs 9
was the cylinder head (valves, cam, etc) the same in the 10 and the 9? The original head on my 10 motor was a mess (worn cam, burned valves) so, when I first got the car in NH, I freshened up the "Balam" head (from a complete 9 motor) and put that on the 10 block. It worked fine. cheers, C...

cleaning water passages in head and block
I was about to start a "homespun" process of cleaning out the water passages in the block and cylinder head. I've collected all of my old gun cleaning brushes and thought I'd chip away as best I could with brush, thin steel rods, compressed air etc. Any suggestions?
TIA,
Charlie

2.5" pistons ?????? in 4A
Hi folks, The yellow Singer from NH is now in Texas. I moved from NH to Galveston, TX in 2006 and brought the Singer down. Galveston is a perfect place for the Singer regarding, climate, back roads, etc and I put lots of miles on it before it got swamped by hurricane Ike in 2008. The tidal surge of ...
