Midwest roadster changes hands

Singer friends. After a wonderful 4,500-mile ride, I've passed the 1953 4AD roadster on to a dear friend near Columbus OH. The perfect owner, it joins his other classics and will continue to be driven enthusiastically, locally and frequently. He had owned one in the '50's, too. My delivery drive fro...

Shocking modification!

I've abandoned lever rear shocks, giving up a few rear seat coils, while improving road-holding, cornering, ride quality & ride height, steering & braking stability. The application is 1985 Mitsubishi/Dodge fwd rear Monroe Sensi-matic. This was the little hatchback with the twin-stick manual...

Re: 4AD tool roll and its contents

I use a late '50s/early '60s Volkswagen Transporter gas door loop key for the bonnet and boot locks on my 4AD. A reproduction, it fits perfectly and comes with a mounting holster.

Here's one without a holster for $10 US:

Re: New tires for 54 roadster

I have a set of the 5.00/5.25 x 16 Excelsiors on my 1953 4AD and have been quite happy. Like most non-radial bias plys, they wear and ride well but sqeal like piglets under even gentle cornering forces. I slightly over-inflate them for winter storage and have not suffered flat spots. While $128 per ...

This popped up for sale on BringATrailer.com. I have no connection - nor budget - yet wanted to pass along.

Just a reminder to pick up a copy of the December 2011 issue of Automobile magazine, featuring a write-up on Dave & Ellen Norton's 4ADT.

Mike,

Have you looked in the garage for a right rear lever shock absorber for a 4AD yet?

Please?

Re: Which is older?

Congrats, Forrest! You win.....nothing.

The house was built in 1949 and the 4ad is a 1953.

Thanks for playing!

Which is older?

On the way home from "Battle of the Brits" - where my Singer took a third in the OPEN OTHER category, besting a real 289 AC Cobra and also was named DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH - I stopped and snapped this picture of the 4AD in front of this 1,300 square foot Frank Lloyd Wright designed Usonian h...

Mine vibated off during Woodward Dream Cruise antics. Doh!!!!
