Re: 1937 nine sports restoration

Salut François, Writing to learn how long John has had your engine? I know there's a lot that needs to be done to make the engines reliable; they are the weak point of the Singer in many ways. Even though the design is a good one, the metallurgical knowledge in England was the weak link. You probabl...

Re: A few pics

These are really nice pictures.

It's great to see so many Singers in the same place at one time.

Where is that garage?

Cheers,

David

Re: 1937 nine sports restoration

Did you send your engine to John Gibson, or are you buying a whole new engine?

Re: 1937 nine sports restoration

Sounds like great progress.

Thanks for keeping us up to date.

Send word about the learning steps you encounter in getting the engine to start. Everyone will learn from that process.

Best of Luck,

David

Re: lockheed decal

Hi Bill, Thanks for accepting my suggestion as it was intended. Here's the thing: my friend used a nearby national graphics store (Staples, I think) and they were willing to make a one off decal for him. Don't know the specifics of materials used, but it seemed that if my friend brought in a camera-...

Re: Stowe VT British Invasion 2017

Hi Peter,

Thanks for asking.

Don't know if that's likely. The cylinder head is irreparably cracked, and heads for a '36 don't grow on trees....

but I'm working on it nonetheless.

Re: lockheed decal

An old friend did a great deal with decals on a restoration by sourcing the graphics online, downloading them and having a graphics company print the design on vinyl with adhesive backing. If you can't find the graphics online, which I question, there's probably someone in the club who has one you c...

Salut, Froux,

How is your project progressing?

Will you have your car on the road this year in time for driving season?

à la prochaine,

David

Re: LM 1935 Hand Brake Lever

Hi Phillip, Seems like another very successful thread: it's not only sorted the OP's question, it's added value was showing what my car should look like in the forward cockpit. And it reminded me that I need to get one of the vertical plates that mount to the shifter extension to hold the choke and ...

Re: LM 1935 Hand Brake Lever

PS This was really helpful to me as I had not previously noticed the angle of the brake lever. Cool!

Re: LM 1935 Hand Brake Lever

Hi Phillip, The photo you posted is really helpful. From its vantage point the shift lever appears to be parallel to the brake lever. Is that accurate? I assume that changes, based upon which gear, or neutral position, is selected for the shift lever. Looks like it sorts things out for the OP. Excel...

Stowe VT British Invasion 2017

Hey, Everyone, Is it time to start planning for September's Stowe Show? This year the event is a week earlier than in years past, being the 15th-17th of the month. (This is great for those in the lower 48 because we can also attend The Boston Cup, as I was able to do for the first time last year: fo...

Re: LM 1935 Hand Brake Lever

Hello All, and Phillip in particular, It might be the only case in all Singer history that started this thread, namely the bent handbrake lever that (appears to) interfere with the gear change lever. I'm willing to bet there's no spec for the angle at which the handbrake lever came from the factory....
