Re: BRITISH INVASION 2017 OFFICIAL THREAD...ARE YOU GOING? CHECK IN HERE!

Hi Phillip, Hello All,

Phillip, Thanks so much for putting all this together for us.

Looking forward to seeing everyone who can join in the fun.

We're going to have a great time.

Hope to see you on Friday for the rally!

Very Best,

David

Re: Singer on ebay

This item had no bids at the 'asking price' of $8,000. As a personal opinion, that seems a bit much for a non-original car that has no spare, no tools, and no way to determine, from the auction photographs, to what level of quality the retrofit of the Ford engine was done. The driver's seat sits squ...

Re: Singer pictures from personal archives

OK, David, Your collection of Singer-related autographs is absurd. Fabulous. Unlike anything I've ever seen. Did I mention fabulous? How did you find these people? or even know they were alive? I recognise quite a number of the signatures: Stanley Barnes, Rex King-Clark (both racing drivers), Servic...

Re: Tyre fitting help please

Hi Peter, Hi Casadacabra, I've found that, by inflating the tube as mentioned above, there's a considerably reduced risk of tube damage. The tube seems to be more likely to be caught on a tyre iron or worse, punctured, if the tube is not slightly inflated. Peter, your point about chipped paint is a ...

Re: Singer pictures from personal archives

DarcyG, what a tremendous hoard you have!

Can't thank you enough for sharing them with us all.

Hope you have enough to save some for those long, cold nights next winter when these would offer such a boost to our enthusiasm (and encourage us toward the coming driving season...)

Very Best,

David

DarcyG,

What a great find --at the airport, no less!

This is a beautiful car. Were hard covers for the spare a commonplace?

This is a neat thread.

David,

These are simply Brilliant!

Thank you so much for posting them. These photographs feel like a private window upon the intimate world of period racing.

Re: lockheed decal

Just came across another decal on a prewar Singer, though the car is shown in more modern days and has been restored. It's in this youtube video, with a voice over in Italian. The Singer decal is clearly visible on the NS sheet metal (gas tank?), just to the left of the twin spares, visible between ...

Re: Tyre fitting help please

Peter's description is very good. As it's been a while since you did this, I would simply remind you how easy it is to pinch the tube with the tyre irons. In my opinion, this is one of those places where taking that extra measure of care will pay off handily. One way to avoid difficulty is to be cer...

Just saw this, and can't understand why nobody has commented on this clever bit of artistry.

It looks great. Nicely done.

Re: Singer LM 1.5 'Put Together Quickly!

Hi Phillip, Thanks for posting the link to Martyn's triumph (no, not the Triumph marque: that would be disloyal). Even 6 months seems very ambitious for a solo assembling of a Singer. If I told you how little I've been able to get done in six months, my membership would probably be rescinded. Do you...

Re: Singers on the road!

Thank you, David, for posting another photo of your gorgeous Le Mans car.

It's so hope-inspiring to learn that it has things that have yet to be done, yet looks so wonderful even at this stage!

Crack on, then.

Best,

David

Re: lockheed decal

Hey Phillip, Those pictures are tremendous! Do you have a never-ending archive of period Singer photos? I, too, would be most interested in one of the S metal badges, if they're appropriate for the Sports model. Please keep me posted on this, whoever is undertaking the project. Was that you, David/D...

Re: lockheed decal

As no one else has mentioned it, it seems everyone is quite comfortable with the fact that Bill's car is attached to the ceiling for restoration. I know I'm new at this, but I find it a bit odd. I thought the preferred way to restore a car was on a rotisserie when possible. Suppose there are advanta...
