Re: Electronic Ignition for 4AD ?

Moss motors has them for $170. You buy them based on which model/number Lucas distributor you have.
I have had mine for some time now and it still works fine so far.

Re: 1952 4AD Motor Start up

I could not help but notice that even on a slight rev up the oil pressure gauge was getting pegged over 50 lbs. That seems unusually high for that kind of motor. Once it broke in what kind of oil pressure do you get at idle and running down the road. What oil did you use. In mine I run Kendal 20-50W...

Re: Electronic Ignition for 4AD ?

I have run a positive ground Pertronix in my Singer4AD for three years now with no issues. My Mustang is a different story, they only seem to last about a year and a half but that is a very high performance motor. I switched to a Mallory in that one. Back to the Singer, use the Pertronix, buy two. P...

Mad Dogs and Englishmen Car Show 2012

This is a last minute decision but I have decided to attend the 2012 Mad Dogs and Englishmen Car Show at the Gilmore Museum. The show kicks off Satrurday with a car rally through the country. I will be attending this as well as the show on Sunday. I will be staying at the nearby Gull Lake Inn Saturd...

Re: Spring Driving

I got mine out for the first Spring drive April 1st here in Northern Michigan. Note the snow still on the ground. I went straight to the local bar to warm up.

Re: One year with my 4AD

I still have snow on the ground at my house, just large piles, no real snow on the ground except in the forest where the sun is not getting through. The Singer is parked in my neighbors garage across the street. I intend on starting it up and moving it back to my house this weekend. Hope it starts!

Re: WANTED Singer Car Owners Information

Over the years I have had the displeasure of having to un-stick an old marine engine that has either sat outside or at some point actually been under water. An old mechanics trick that I swear by is automatic transmission fluid down each cylinder. Just a little will do it and let it sit for a few we...

Re: WANTED Singer Car Owners Information

I bought three engine blocks from Paul Barber two weekends ago down in Georgia.
4AD 1504V
4AD 1320V
4AD 1559V

I intend on using the first one for my car and sell the other two.

To complete my engine build I need a set of 10 under main bearings, do you know where I can get any?

I have a very nice 4AD engine block that is not cracked if you would like to trade it for the twin carb set-up?

Re: What is it about the 4AD? or Philosophy 101 or Mikes new car

I just pulled my motor apart to replace a cracked block. I put 4,000 miles on it with water in the oil and everything. I procurred a block from down south so I am good there. Problem is that when we checked the cylinder head it turns out that it is cracked too. Personaly I think you have too much on...

Re: Mad Dogs 2010

Great to hear you are going to try and make this one Paul. People that snore get put in the 5th wheel out back so we can't hear them! (just kidding) I have two nice guest rooms with queen beds that I am reserving for couples. I also have a guest room with a single bed and my office has a nice Fouton...
