Singer 9 hood rivets / spindles
One of the hinge-things on my Singer 9 hood has snapped (see the attached photos). I've tried a Google search, but I can't see anything about hood frame spares. But there must be something out there - I suspect I'm just not using the correct search terms. So, hoping someone can point me in the right...

Re: Rocker cover torque
Yes, spot on. Alex (or Sandy). Unfortunately, I took nothing to do with the car (or cars in general) when he was alive, so now having to learn from scratch.

Re: Rocker cover torque
Blimey, Philip, that's a very comprehensive reply! Many thanks indeed. I'll give that a go at the weekend and let you know how I get on.

Re: Rocker cover torque
To be honest, I'm not sure. If it helps, though, I'm pretty sure it's original. I've also attached some photographs.

Rocker cover torque
Basic question. How tight should I tighten the rocker cover with a new cork gasket? I fitted a new one a couple of years ago, but I think I probably overtightened it, because I now get a dribble of oil leaking all the way round. Also, would there be any harm in using a silicone sealant as well (such...

Re: Wire Wheel Refurbishment
I had mine done at Rugby Classic Motor Garage a couple of years ago. They made a good job of it and I think they were quite a bit cheaper than MWS. http://www.rugbyclassics.com/
The hubs were chromed by someone else, though.

Re: Flywheel and timing marks
Dear Philip, Once again - many thanks. We think we've got it now. Either side of a scribe on the flywheel there are marks that look like the following: 1 2 8 4 I 4 8 1 2 We're pretty sure the middle one is top dead centre. However, we're less sure about the other marks. I suspect my father added the...

Re: Flywheel and timing marks
Dear Philip, That is really helpful, thank you! This is a picture looking down towards what I thought was the flywheel inspection hole, which you're picture has confirmed as correct: http://www.fairbairn.scot/singer9/Singer_9_Flywheel_for_Singer_Forum_BB_post.jpg However, I'm still stuck as to what ...

Flywheel and timing marks
I fear this is going to be a really stupid question, but I'm new to classic cars (in fact, new to any form of car engineering) and I'm stuck. I have a 1935 Singer 9 4-Seater Sports. After having had some wwork performed on the cylinder head, I think the timing might need adjusted, and I would at lea...

Drawing for longtail panels with louvres
BSG8_1347_small.jpg Hello Everyone, I'm now looking after my late father's Singer 9 Le Mans and am having to learn fast, not having the benefit of my Dad's extensive engineering knowledge. My Dad's Singer 9 Le Mans is a bit of a mongrel. One thing he never got around to (for over 25 years!) was get...
