LM Rear Axle
new Member having issues with images...posting for him, Mike. Dear all, I started to restore a Singer Le Mans 1934, two seater, 1 litre (Car No 62743) which I received some month ago. It recently passed the technical board and is allowed to go on the street. Everything is ok except the differential....

Re: 1953 California 4AD
don't know, in the old days, I just walked to Moss Motors during my lunch hour and bought whatever they had there. Unfortunately, they closed their front desk during Covid and have no plans to re-open it, so now I have to call and buy it and they ship it in a day or 3 for free...a whopping 0.8 miles...

Re: 1953 California 4AD
I have been playing with Singer's far too long :) And I only use Castrol brake fluid in my 4AD. It is possible that you have newer hoses and cylinders that can handle anything else but if you don't know for sure, stick with Castrol. If you rebuild the brakes using modern parts, then you can use what...

Re: 1953 California 4AD
if he really kept ALL documentation, you will probably find some from me back in the 70's. I should even have pictures of the car and Lanvin at my house for a Singer car show in Santa Barbara also at Jonas Waxman's house in Oakland, also for a Singer meet. Unfortunately in those days I shot 35mm sli...

Re: 1953 California 4AD
before spending time scanning the manuals, check and see if they are here first https://www.singercars.com/singer-manuals/ If not, you can scan them or send them to me and I can scan them and return them. I have a book scanner at work, it's super fast and I don't have to remove the staples or lay th...

Re: Aluminium/aluminum bonnet/hood
I think you are overthinking this but yes genius. There will be issues with the steel and aluminum but it will take decades to be a real issue. Unless you store the car in a very humid environment, just a little (very little coating) bit of grease on the steel rod will stop corrosion for a very long...

Re: New Project

This summer will be pour...

Re: Oil temperature gauge
With the length of the wire it likely is not thermal like a normal house thermometer. Ok, this is so new to me I won't even hazard a guess.

Re: New Project
Colin, we both must have been crazy, the 34LM I purchased really should have been scrapped, but I wanted one so badly that I got it. The wood was rotten and a large amount of it was missing due to rot, the motor was frozen solid and had a large plate bolted to the side where the first crankshaft had...
